Forums - Gaming - An opinion - I want to want a Wii

Too much thought put into all of this. Just trust your gut.

MadWorld is what happened. I haven't tried it, I haven't been near the game yet. And I refuse to buy it for a console I don't own myself. But it got me excited over the things the Wii could do. Games on the Wii have a chance to be something no other games can be, and having fully realized this, I now want to want a Wii.

What would happen if you bought a Wii, tried Mad World, and hated it?

I would laugh like a maniac, cry on the inside and curse myself for not taking my own advice

There has to be at least 5+ games from that list and that's not even more. Maybe you should wait until GDC in a few days and E3 to see what games will be release for Wii that might interest you before you buy one.

Counting games I have any interest in at all, there are 6 games on that list. But I still differentiate between games I would buy if I had the platform, and games I would buy the platform to play, and of the entire Wii lineup, both past and currently announced, only MadWorld is making me want to buy a Wii to play it.

besides mario galaxy u are not interested in Zelda or mario kart?

and the idea of wii motion plus in wii sports resort / grand slam tennis / tiger woods 10?

Nope, only Super Mario Galaxy.

And I like the idea of Motion+, but I can't get excited about it, until developers prove they can even use the Wiimote without it. And until they do, I suspect there will be a plethora of games trying to use it, but they will all be a mix swordfighting/tennis/golf and maybe hockey and other sports where you use sticks.

And Wii Sports Resort sounds better than Wii Sports, but it doesn't say a lot since I don't care for Wii Sports at all.

well I know I want a Wii.
Trouble is, I have to convince by wife who (quite rightly) reminds me that I spend too much on gaming as it is without one.

I really think you need to bite the bullet and try some new titles if you're going to buy a Wii.

I used to be a Sega fan before they stopped making systems. When the Dreamcast failed I was forced into buying titles that I hadn't tried before. It's the single best thing that happened to me in terms of gaming. Because Sega failed I ended up with a GC and titles like Zelda, Resident Evil, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Metal Gear that I never would've tried before. It goes without saying most of the 'new' titles I loved, sure a few were big misses but you don't know until you try them.

As a PS3/Wii owner I can honestly say I get more entertainment out of the little white box - that's not saying PS3 is bad, they're both fine systems.

I've tried that - the only one she thinks she can actually play properly is Singstar.

Maybe i should just get one as a "Surprise" *insert evil_laugh.wav*

Instead of wanting to want a Wii, you should just buy Sins of a Solar Empire

ain't it beautiful

Thanks to the guy who provided me a link to this thread, I'm considering getting a Wii and this is a good read :)

But like with the PSP, I can't justify buying a Wii because of the games it might get and MadWorld alone. What needs to happen, is that 3rd parties need to make more good games for the Wii, announce me a killer lineup and give me no choice but to buy a Wii!

Right now, I am feel desperate to have developers try and make something good for the Wii. I don't care for Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead or Tales games. My PS3 has had me buying games since I got it, and of the 21 retail games I bought, I only regret buying two games. Make me Wii exclusives that demand my attention, and not games I feel should have been on a HD console.

Finally, something like this is starting to happen! Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is looking like just the game I have described. It will use the Wii controls to its advantage, and generally a unique game that will make me want a Wii. I am quite happy about this game, hopefully more games in the vain of this will be announced soon. The Wii is looking better and better right now!

Buy play it on wii: metroid prime and also buy metroid prime 3. These games are AMAZING. If you like Madworld then you'll also like no more heroes. Super mario galaxy is also an amazing game and will probably last you 20-40 hours of playing.
You also need super smash bros brawl... It's a game you want(must) to play when friends come over... Super smash bros brawl is also a very addictive game :) It has way too much replay value.
