Wait a minute.... wan't the price cut right at the end of 07?  So this year's numbers are better than post price cut PS3 numbers last year?  Must be the combo of Killzone 2/Resident Evil 5 to barely push it over that.

I think the RE5 branded limited edition consoles had a large effect on 360 sales.

I saw them, and they were moving like pretty good off the shelves. Elites weren't moving at all and there are rumours they are dead... Remove Elites, change the colour, pack in a AAA title that is releasing, call it a "limited edition" and sales change... You have to like marketing. Too many consumers are like lab rats.

But kudos to MS for knowing the lab rats.

RE5 (Xbox360) will beat RE5 (PS3)

hardware is done in NA. The PS3 in NA is the Xbox360 in Japan.

Can we all agree to stop talking about this price cut like it is happening in a few weeks?  Not once has any of those rumors been right, and not once has it even slightly been leaked with good evidence.  In fact, the ONLY stuff we have from Sony is saying the opposite.  Yeah sure all the fanboys and "publishers" are anticipating it, but Sony is not planning on delivering it.

I think a price cut now is a useless strategy...

Think about it, if they cut now people will forget about it by the time september rolls around.  Microsoft then drops their price by $50 per SKU and again MS will take the Christmas time frame when sales are serious...

Cutting now might push an extra 150,000 consoles a month through to September...  A price drop in September gives you 150,000 more per week through Christmas.

Sony is in a bad place.  But, they can't panic.

Yes Killzone has sold systems but PS3 hardware sales are still weak, most notably in America.
