If Sony or Microsoft release motion controllers similar to the Wii, I'll give up gaming forever :(

NO you won't. Then motion controllers will be the best thing since sliced bread.

Don't encourage him to stay in gaming.  I think he may deserve to leave gaming for good with his distorted views.

lol hey cmon. I'm just saying if the controller is pretty well the exact same as the Wii. We'll just have to wait and see, but if it's anywhere similar to the Wii I won't be happy, Sony can do better then that.

LoL, gilgamesh, so motion controls will be fine only after sony decides to implement them. Interesting.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

yes I consider the Wii to be current gen.

Okay Gilgamesh don't worry too much. Even with the Wii the top games (Mario Kart Wii, SSBB, etc..) offer GCN controller/classic controller options. So even if they incorporated motion controls they would probably still offer alternatives.

Right Sony did try to do better then that, with that weird round controller and came up with sixaxis, they will stick to DualShock in the future as well.

Nothing wrong with the Dualshock, you what they say, don't fix something if it's not broken.

@Arius_Dion, I didn't say that, don't be twisting my words around lol

(....maybe I should stop posting in this thread)

Well, the Wavebird was wireless, though it's true that there was no motion controls last gen except for a few GBA games.

There was a WarioWare game along these lines, yes?

And a Yoshi game.

Also, there was a motion controlled Game Boy Color game, Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble.  It's awesome.  It plays like say, RollGoal in Twilight Princess, or any of those other marble games.

1) A troubling note for the industry - 6th generation consoles continue to outsell 7th gen consoles and show no signs of slowing. This is the first time in history a previous generation has outsold its successors.

2) Nintendo is the first company to launch 2 entirely seperate home consoles in the same generation since Atari did it in the 2nd generation.

3) Nintendo is on track to win the 6th generation, dethroning the PS2, a surprise considering how late it entered the race.

4) Wii holds the record as the latest entry into a generation in history. The 6th gen started in 1998 with Dreamcast, and Nintendo waited until 2006 to release the Wii, making it 8 years. The previous record was 7 years, held by the Sega SG-1000 (released 1983), from the 2nd generation that started in 1976.

5) Developers are supporting two generations of consoles with multiplatform titles, and even new exclusives, a practice that was previously quite rare.

6) The 6th gen is the longest generation in history at 10 years, and projected to last up to 15 years. The previous record was 9 years.

7) The 7th generation is on track to have the lowest sales since the 3rd gen. So far it's the most dissapointing generation in history.

8) Publishers who invested heavily into the 7th gen, including Midway, THQ, Atari, Eidos, EA and Lucasarts are struggling.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

It's part of this gen by virtue that it is actively being developed for and is competing against the other consoles. You could make the argument that the PS2 is also, but PS2 was primarily active in the previous gen and is only competing this gen because of its long tail sales.

The tech in the console doesn't matter at all in terms of what gen it is. Only when it was released and what its intended competition time frame is.
