Personally, I think Peter Molyneux is a man with great vision, but an unfortunately big mouth. I didn't dislike Fable even though it was nothing it was promised to be, because I respected it as a very solid and well made action RPG. It was nothing revolutionary, and people who don't limit themselves to one console (not you) realize that there were many better RPGs made last generation, as well as many much more revolutionary ones. However, the game was fun, and that's what's important. I stand by my statement that it's stupid to believe anything said about this game until there is visual proof. I find it ironic that you can trust Peter Molyneux, who has a history of promising a bunch of crap that doesn't come true, but you didn't even believe Nibris existed until you saw a video of Raid over the River.

Have you actually watched any of his recent interviews? In them he no longer has a "big mouth" in fact he almost always states that he learned his lesson from Fable and will no longer talk about features or play up things that won't be in the game.

Oh and why do I trust Peter Molyneux over Nibris? Well Peter Molyneux is a legendary game designer in charge of a well known studio that has actually released games and that is owned and published by one of the biggest companies in the World. Nibris on the other hand we have NO idea who's working there (well besides the guy who's fanart they tried to pass off as concept art), have released NO games, and have NO publisher, hell we don't even know if they have an actual studio since we know next to NOTHING about them. They're a running joke at Neogaf and a lot of other message boards and gaming websites and you wonder why *I* don't take them seriously?

Also about the other games, you do realize that dispite the fact that he has had a few misses the majority of the time a person gets a good game (for fans of his work). But hey why don't we stop with the FUD being thrown around in this thread? Actually I tell you what, I'm willing to make some bets to see who's going to be right about this game.

Here's how sure I am that Fable 2 is going to be great and that Nibris is a joke, I'll take any of these bets:

I'll bet you that Fable 2 will get at least an 85% on Gamerankings.
I'll bet you that the gameplay trailer that Nibris promised for Sadness this year won't be released.
I'll bet you that Fable 2 will be released before Sadness.
I'll bet you that when March 2009 rolls around that Sadness will *still not* be released. Hell I'm nice, lets make that March 2010.

The winner gets to pick a new profile picture/avatar that the user must use for 6 months. So will you take any of those bets?

Actually, I have a lot more respect for Molyneux after the apology he gave for his promises in Fable that weren't true. Big mouth may not be the right words, more like "ambitious talker." He has trouble controling his ambitions and keeping them within the realms of possibility.

About people always getting a good game "for fans of his work:" that was my point. There are a lot of people who are not fans of his work. Although I have enjoyed some of his games, I'm certainly not creating a Molyneux fanclub anytime soon. I didn't say it's not right to be skeptical about Nibris. I wasn't sure they were making anything until I saw the video either. I just don't see how you can not be skeptical about anything said about this game given his history? I don't think he tries to lie to people, I just think his visions get out of control. Besides: Water effects better than Bioshock? You should at least be skeptical about that one.

Bet 1:

I agree with you...

Bet 2:

I agree with you... they don't have a publisher, isn't it unreasonable to expect it this year?

Bet 3:

I agree with you... see Bet 2

Bet 4:

I would accept this, but I don't see us remembering this in 2 and a half years.

Edit: why do you continue to believe I hate Fable? I told you it's my favorite Xbox game. Of course I expect Fable 2 to be good. I simply refuse to believe any promises made until I see them.

water effects better then bioshocks is really pushing it

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

If I am being honest I wasn't "Wowed" by Bioshock's water =p.  It was very well done, no doubt, but I didn't get the "Holy mother of god!" feeling I got from Planet Earth in 1080p. On a scale of "0 -to- Realistic" I would give it a 9.4.  So there is room for improvement yet.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I am extremely excited for Fable 2. Peter made fable to be the greatest rpg of all time and it fell flat on its face and was no where near but that doesn't mean it wassen't a great game. I love fable 1 and I have beat it several times already its one of those games i always like to go back and play.

The big thing I am excited for in fable is the fact you can own a dog. I am a dog lover and I have had dogs in my family all my life. Being able to have a dog that will be with you, fight beside you, and want to play with you like a real dog I think that is awesome. Thats the biggest selling point of Fable 2 for me.

Yeh, the dog aspect should add a lot to the gameplay -- can't wait to find out more info on that

I don't know why but seeing that video made me think of "A Boy and His Dog", a post-apocalyptic sci-fi short story by Harlan Ellison (and later made into a movie) although Molyneux's idea for the dog is nothing like the one in that short story.
