Forums - Microsoft - New Fable 2 Info, its gonna kick ass!

I loved B&W, at least for a while. Playing through the first world was fantastic. And I still think it's fun to just go around with the creature and mess things up.

The Movies (I only have the original) was interesting, but got boring very fast.

Fable was great. Sure, it didn't deliver on everything, but it was still one of the absolute best Xbox games.

I didn´t like the B&W games much eather, but they where quality games, no question about it. I mean the man made Populus and Dungeon Keeper, sure that doesn´t mean everything he touches turnes to gold, but he´s got a lot of credit to go around. No matter what you say about him, he brings great new ideas and inovations to games, even if they don´t all turn out the way he wanted it´s still better than not trying and making the same games over and over again.

Oh and btw, everything Peter Molyneux does is NOT full of great awesome win. The Black and White games were steaming piles of poo, and lol @ The Movies: Stunts & Effects.

Really? Black and White got a 89% of Gamerankings but according to you it was a "steaming pile of poo". Thanks for coming in and being one of the fanboys I mentioned in my previous post.

I hated Black and White. How would fanboyism have anything to do with that considering it was a PC game? Not to mention you didn't even bother reading my previous post where I said Fable is the best game I own for the Xbox IMO. Here's an idea Legend, grow up and accept that just because you like a developer doesn't make him the best thing in the world, and it certainly doesn't make everyone else's opinion of him invalid. Your opinion is one of many, and when it comes to Peter Molyneux you are going to find a lot of people who disagree about his "greatness."

Personally, I think Peter Molyneux is a man with great vision, but an unfortunately big mouth. I didn't dislike Fable even though it was nothing it was promised to be, because I respected it as a very solid and well made action RPG. It was nothing revolutionary, and people who don't limit themselves to one console (not you) realize that there were many better RPGs made last generation, as well as many much more revolutionary ones. However, the game was fun, and that's what's important. I stand by my statement that it's stupid to believe anything said about this game until there is visual proof. I find it ironic that you can trust Peter Molyneux, who has a history of promising a bunch of crap that doesn't come true, but you didn't even believe Nibris existed until you saw a video of Raid over the River.

Edit: And nice job ignoring the fact that the other B&W games were reviewed MUCH lower, as was The Movies.  The fanboy Legend would be the one who ignores any evidence that doesn't match their beleifs.  Your beliefs were that everything Molyneux makes is great, mine were that he's a decent developer who has made some good games and some crap ones.  Despite you disagreeing with my pick of B&W, the facts still support my opinion more than yours.

If the guy at the car dealership tells you that the new porsches can fly, that doesn't make them a crappy car when they don't live up to that promise.

Fable was an awesome game in it's own right, and the claims of the games dev's shouldn't change that. Fable 2 will be fantastic.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Amen!!! :)

Amen!!

I agree completely Stof. I am still very much looking forward to Fable 2.

Fable was a very good and fun game, while it didnt live up to hype, still a fantastic game. I expect the same for Fable 2

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Have you actually watched any of his recent interviews?  In them he no longer has a "big mouth" in fact he almost always states that he learned his lesson from Fable and will no longer talk about features or play up things that won't be in the game.

Oh and why do I trust Peter Molyneux over Nibris?  Well Peter Molyneux is a legendary game designer in charge of a well known studio that has actually released games and that is owned and published by one of the biggest companies in the World.  Nibris on the other hand we have NO idea who's working there (well besides the guy who's fanart they tried to pass off as concept art), have released NO games, and have NO publisher, hell we don't even know if they have an actual studio since we know next to NOTHING about them.  They're a running joke at Neogaf and a lot of other message boards and gaming websites and you wonder why *I* don't take them seriously?

Also about the other games, you do realize that dispite the fact that he has had a few misses the majority of the time a person gets a good game (for fans of his work).  But hey why don't we stop with the FUD being thrown around in this thread?  Actually I tell you what, I'm willing to make some bets to see who's going to be right about this game.

Here's how sure I am that Fable 2 is going to be great and that Nibris is a joke, I'll take any of these bets:

I'll bet you that Fable 2 will get at least an 85% on Gamerankings.
I'll bet you that the gameplay trailer that Nibris promised for Sadness this year won't be released.
I'll bet you that Fable 2 will be released before Sadness.
I'll bet you that when March 2009 rolls around that Sadness will *still not* be released.  Hell I'm nice, lets make that March 2010.

The winner gets to pick a new profile picture/avatar that the user must use for 6 months.  So will you take any of those bets?

Wasn't the original fable the game where they promised the world and barely delivered on any of their promises?

Not trying to bring anyone down, I hope the game is good, but I have heard from a number of places (the most recent of which was a quite hilarious video, aka Zero Punctuation, that the original fable was supposed to have a bunch of cool stuff but they implemented all the "kewl" stuff in "shitty" ways.

They sort of promised to be the first game to truly introduce consequences to choices on a massive scale. They did achieve this, but not to the extent that was expected. In any case, it still got game of the year from a couple of publications, and for anyone who played it without reading about it online and the huype surrounding it (like me), it was just a great, near-flawless rpg. The only problem was it was finished in about 16-17 hours for me, which is too short for an RPG. Still, it was so great i replayed it twice, and there WAS sufficient consequences and choices to make each time different

Edit: In any case, using next-gen processing power, they should have more skope for the introduction of choices and character empathy

Hopefully they can learn from the last game and the new hardware should allow them to do more. I just hope they don't overhype this one like they did last time.  It sounds like they took a good game and made it seem crappy by simply promising more than they could deliver.

They have a good concept, decent art direction, and obviously are filled with great ideas.  They just need to make sure they can deliver any idea they announce and this should be a great game.
