The graph proves what it shows actually...

and COD4 was a slow burner on the PS3 at first as you well know... and you probably know that KZ2 is tracking below COD WAW too... but you conveniently forgot to say that.

Keep going with your bogus graphs.

You ignore CoD4, instead you keep comparing it to games with that had 4-5+ million install base in their previous titles.

Talk about your fair comparison.

actually the graph is more bogus than that.

1) CoD released in the holiday period. So it saw sustained sales that most games don't manage during the rest of the year.

2) KZ2 week 3 is only European sales, so this makes KZ2 look bad. Once KZ2 sales come in for US the graph won't be as misinforming.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Thank you.

That is another point that is always ignored.

Unlike all the games people continually compare it to, it did not get the benefit of a holiday release. The fact that it didn't, yet is on par with a 4+M selling game like CoD4 actually makes it look really good.

@euphoria..

many, including you, predicted a gears (1) type performance. Aint gonna happen.

I predicted 3.5-4M possible lifetime sales and 750-800k first week.

Gears 1 sold 900k first week, 450k second week. 1.37M first 2 weeks.

Killzone 2 sold 750k first week, 350k second week. 1.02M first 2 weeks.

Guess what else? Gears 1 was the first BIG 360 title, plus release during the holiday season, which you continually choose to ignore.

Killzone 2 sales are doing very well whether you want to admit it or not. It definitely has a chance at over 3M. LBP started off like 300k first week and people called it a flop, now it stands to reach 3M+. Please explain why my prediction of 3.5-4M isn't possible, that is 2-2.5M below Gears 1 lifetime sales.

Good job calling me out about my prediction and being wrong though.

First we get a bogus graph(s), then we get a bogus claim. You're 2 for 2.

Just for comparison, launch week aside, Killzone 2 isn't tracking that far below Halo 3 in terms of EU sales.

Halo 3 in EU: week 2 [186k] week 3 [82k]

KZ2 in EU: week 2 [143k] week 3 [65k]

People should stop expecting PS3 shooters to sell like 360 shooters. There is no history that they do, and they probably never will.

Some genres sell just as well on the PS3 as the 360. Shooters are definitely not one of them.

If you want to predict sales of a KZ2, or future PS3 FPS, look at sales of other PS3 shooters. Do not look at 360 game sales. Maybe then you expectations will be more in line with reality.

ignoring install bases quite a bit there arent you....

Your point?

CoD4 sold 4M+ on a smaller install base than Killzone 2 has, yet now Killzone 2 can't sell the same on a bigger install base even though it is tracking higher than it while also being launched outside of the holiday season?

Makes sense I guess. -.-

Like I just said before, I predicted 3.5-4M, not Gears 1 numbers like you seem to think. You are the one in here trying to compare it to Gears 1 sales and basing it's success on it. Even worse you are the only one here trying to base it's success (present and future) on Gears 2 sales. You're arguing and calling out the wrong person here pal.

*sigh*

I think most were comparing killzone 2 to ps3 cod4. I think it's pretty obvious to even brain dead people that the 360 has more shooter fans.

If you put other genres into the question though, the 360 isn't the software beast you seem to think it is. RE5 is our most recent example even after the ps3 version was deemed inferior.

American sales are in. KZ2 sold 67k for its third week. Curve looks respectable again.

Well, what caused Gears of War to have intial success?

Some places I heard people say because people saw it as the first real "Next Gen" game. At the time the graphics were far above anything else released.

Now I must ask, considering how Killzone 2 looks. Why can it not have the same effect?

Thats your quote in the Killzone 2 sales thread Euphoria.

And you know what I was referring to on the install base point... Gears launched when the 360 had an install base of 5 Million!

Where does that imply 5-6+M Lifetime sales?

Thanks for ignoring every other post in that thread though.

^Well I guess we will eventually find out, but that time isn't anytime real soon.

That was also me asking why people think the graphics won't help Killzone 2 have a good launch week, not about first week and/or lifetime predictions. You are simply seeing what you want to see. It was a question about "how could graphics help Gears 1 have a good launch but won't help Killzone 2". How you took that as my prediction I have no clue, lol. The quote was also responded with what I say now, that it had those sales because it was a holiday release and also the first BIG title on the 360.

So as you can see I took something out of that thread.

This is getting really pathetic Kowenicki.
