Forums - Website Topics - Everytime i enter VGcharts i get a virus?!... Ioi or mods help?!

Hey guys, how are you doing? It's been a while since I post...(but I still read this site everyday)

I wanted to say that I'm using Internet Explorer 7.0, with the Karpesky Antivirus 6.02.614, and everytime I go to any page on the site, a trojan attacks, but is then stopped by my antivirus. Strangely though, the site is MUCH, MUCH quicker. It used to take ages to load the home page or anything. But now it's extremely swift.

I also think that this problem will make the site fall in popularity. A videogame site that shows trustable sold numbers for hardware and software...attacked by a virus. Doesn't say much. I won't stop coming though.

1. It's quicker because of a server move. 2. Use Firefox + Adblock + Noscript or Firefox + Anything-but-Windows and trojan attacks will stop, period.

Ubuntu. Linux for human beings.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

The solution isn't for everyone to move to Linux, thats fucking stupid.

Solution is for someone to clean up the advertisers and/or webpage so we aren't attacked by trojan downloads everytime we logon.

The server moved? Hmm don't think so, IP is the same. Isn't it faster because ioi deleted a java script?

Don't stop the attacks, just the posibility that they succseed.

You sound a little agressive with point 2. Well, I'm not ****ing switching to Firefox (I have it, but I don't like it), and I'm not going to go through all that JUST so trojan attacks on this ONE site will stop. I'm sure that all people new to the site will agree.

However, I want to point out that I don't really care as long as my antivirus continues to eliminate all problems. But I can see this place getting stale if this is not solved quickly.

I just have AdBlock running, and never get any of these issues. My guess is one (or more) of the banner ads showing has some dodgy content.

I use Safari/Firefox so it's not a problem for me, but that's no excuse really. Nor is moving everybody to another browser/anti-virus/operating-system combination a workable solution (and btw, if these were ads and they stopped "working" all of the sudden, they wouldn't even be worth any money, now would they?)

No matter how you slice it, admins here are still resposible for all of the site's content - ads included. And if you think these things are small matters, you'll think again if by any chance Google decides on a whim that "visiting this site may harm your computer" (and all the Adsense revenew disappears). The number of times this has been reported already should be proof enough that this is a real and recurring issue. It should be dealt with before it becomes a bigger problem.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

I've never noticed any problems.

Mee TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!its getting annoying evertime i come to this site my computer prompt "Virus Found" its just starting happening recently and its slows down my computers as well please fix the problem i like coming to this site but its not worth losing my computer over it thank you.

It's just a trojan...not really the end of the world if you're able to detect and deal with it.
Keeps you on your toes doesn't it? :D

Good to see this site is still going

This is rediculous, how hard can it be to get this site disinfected?
