Forums - Nintendo - Home come Nintendo hasn't released a Pokemon MMO for Wii?

I'd love for it to happen (one of the few games I wouldn't mind paying monthly for), but the very concept of a massively-multiplayer game goes against Nintendo's philosophies of online play. They seem very against having you form bonds of any kind with people you play against online, and these bonds are pivotal for a massively multiplayer game.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Maybe they are right now. O_o

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)
Nintendo ID: Mako91                  3DS code: 4167-4543-6089

what about a 3D pokemon game for the wii that works the same way as the games on the handhelds (i.e. you run around, beat gyms, catch pokemon)

except, you know, to keep it from failing, you could have non-linear gameplay like maybe actually join the bad-guys or become a gym leader or something, I dunno

but yeah, an mmo would be awesome...but what could you possibly do in it? I mean, it's not like WoW where it's real time combat with weapons and armor and stuff

They want people to play together in the real world.

Also: pedophiles.

Isn't it obvious to Nintendo that they can make gazillions if they made a proper MMO using one of the most popular brand in the world?

Sometimes I just don't understand Nintendo.

Heck i just want a proper Pokemon game on the Wii.

G4: A lot of G4 readers love the Pokemon series, but want to see a proper Pokemon role-playing game on a home console, or even a Pokemon MMO. Do you see that ever happening?

JM: One of the core concepts of the Pokemon games is trading. You can trade within the game, but you can also go out and meet with your friends to trade. You can talk with your family and friends as you play Pokemon. For this concept, the most suitable hardware is portable, like the Nintendo DS. That's why we focus on portable game systems.
