No, you shouldn't read my first post. There is one piece of the story that I partially gave away and if you haven't played the game, you'll want to witness it for yourself (even though I personally think the game goes to shit at that point).

You probably shouldn't be in this topic at all anymore. Bioshock has been out for over 12 months which means it's no longer needed to censor spoilers the same way I wouldn't expect anybody to care if they spoil FF VII at this point. There comes a time when we should be able to openly talk about a game and I think 12 months is adequate.
@Rocket-I was sure it was going to be a prequel also, because I figured Rapture had drowned completely. It seems like a bit of a copout to have it partially standing. I'm not totally convinced it won't at least partially deliver though, storyline wise.
I'm sure it will be at least a good game.
But it could have been great.
Seeing that Big Sister made me throw up in my mouth a little. That is directly 180 degrees from where they should have been going with that game.

Well they're going to have to make her intriguing, that's for sure. I think I'll be happy as long as they don't do something royally stupid like bring Fontaine back. Also I hope this swimming shit I heard about was part of the rumors and isn't in this game. I do not want to be first person swimming.
While I guess it's possible to make her intriguing, why on Earth would she be wearing that silly costume? It's stupid. It looks like someone didn't get their daily recommended dose of Badass® from the original and now wants to turn the game into some ridiculous power armor super boss battle extravaganza.
Then again, I think BioShock should have ended the moment you-know-who died. No grand quest to destroy another super-baddie, no fetch quests, none of that. It only watered down (sic) a phenomenal world and solid storyline. The game was smart and intriguing until it went all action hero at the end.

That would have been awesome and so not typical. People would have scratched their heads in bewilderment the same way they do when they see an indy movie that ends abruptly and without full explanation, causing you to use your brain. Honestly, I don't think Bioshock needed a sequel or a prequel. I think the game stood fine on it's own, it was basically a closed story, and maybe the "Shock" suffix could have been used to tell a new story in an original environment the same way System Shock became Bioshock.
| rocketpig said: Huge fail. This game just screamed "prequel". The original game's biggest failure was the last 1/3 of the game and switching antagonists from a creepy old egomaniac to a power-hungry supertool. Now it appears the devs have gone even further into the shallow end of the gene pool and put some wannabe Samus Aran in charge of Rapture. I am bitterly disappointed. The beauty of the first 2/3rds of Bioshock was its twisted realism. There were no super bosses, just a bunch of fucked up denizens of a societal experiment gone wrong. Now it appears we're in for even less intelligent fare than the last 1/3 of the original. Weak. I cannot emphasize how much this stings to read. |
Ahhh I get it! If somthing is bad you say it is good and if it's good you say it's bad. Had to look at your games collection to realise. Lair? Crusin the World? k
