They can't afford such a big price drop. Do you have any idea of Sony's current financial state?

Sit back and continue to outsell PS3 week over week.
If Sony can drop the PS3 from $600 to $300 after just two and a half years on the market, then MS should be able to drop the X360 Pro from $400 to $200 after three and a half years, don't you fink?
So if the PS3 drops to $300 all MS has to do is drop the 60GB to $200 (and the Arcade to $150) and they'll match the PS3-sales just fine.
It should be called (Bcuz X360 has outsold the PS trey so MS wouldnt need to do anything for a while)
If the X360 Drops to 150$ Sony should:
A) Drop the price of the PS trey down to $300.
B).Bundle better games.
C) Pay for exclusive "DLC"
D) Pay for "timed exclusives"
E) Offer a free PSP with a PS trey.
G) Do nothing and see how things play out.
H) Shift focus to the PS4.
I) All of the above.
Any of these sound like a plan to you? What's your take?
But to anwser your question G.
MS should do nothing. If the PS3 gets a boost and sells the same as the 360 on a weekly basis, MS should still do nothing.
They have an 8 M lean right now on the PS3. Unless the PS3 starts selling a LOT more than the 360, MS does not need to do anything.

When the PS3 came out it was gonna trounce the 360... Didn't happen... 2007 was supposed to be the year of the PS3... Didn't happen... 2008 was supposed to be the year of the PS3... Didn't happen... 2009 is supposed to be the year of the PS3... It still hasn't materialized... What makes you think things are going to change this year simply with a price drop? Assuming a $100 price drop it is still $100 more expensive then 360... Until Sony reaches $199, the price drops mean nothing. And by then 360 will be $100-125 You would think, that Sony fanboys would have figured out by now (after 2+ years of defeat) that Microsoft has a plan to deal with every move Sony has/will make this generation...

You obviusly missed January 2008- October 2008 period, and you might wanna check to see who sold more in 2007.

I have. The 360 sold more in 2007 and 2008. All those months kinda mean nothing when they get utterly dominated to the degree that they did from October 2008 till now.
OT: Not that this isn't entirely flame bait, but here is what MS would do.
Step 1: Wait to see what happens over the next month or so.
Step 2: Wait for Sony to file Bankruptcy after another 100 million USD loss in just over a month.
Step 3: Lower the 360 price to $149/$199 for Arcade/Pro in time for holidays and destroy the remaining PS3 reserves.
Step 4: Repeat again for 2010 with prices of $129/179.
Step 5: Repeat again for 2011 with $99/149 and announce next Xbox.
Step 6: Lower 360 price to $129 for only Pro model remaining. Launch the next Xbox in 2012 at $300 opening cost to setup a next generation of owning Sony in their desperate shape and only have Nintendo to compete with.
All of those are just as possible as Sony dropping the PS3 to $300 in the next month or two, and if that happens, these will likely be soon to follow.
I would think that MS would drop the price of the Pro to $249, and the Arcade to $179 or $169.
The key is keeping that Pro unit below the PS3 by a decent margin. It's $100 now, but a reduction to a $50 margin would swing sales back to parity, I think. However, MS would suffer far less with a $50 Pro drop, than a PS3 $100 drop...Which may allow MS to maneuver in other ways. Sony is in a very bad position. They aren't profitable with the PS3, and it's sales are dwindling. All this is while the 360 and Wii are doing great, and have more room to initiate price drops, or change their strategies.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Why do people think that every electronic componant in the universe will cost less to produce in the future except the PS3? Pont is that the components will cost less in the future thus they can go down in price. How much was a DVD player when it came out? How much is one now? Ten bucks? Lol some people have no sense of forsight at all.
And yes Microstft has more money then Sony and Nintendo combined. However if you're saying that Microsoft has infinate money to burn tell that to 5000 of their employees they are laying off:
