When does Lost Odyssey release in the US/Japan? I played Blue Dragon on my friends 360 briefly and it looks to be an awesome game.

Everyone is really unsure on Lost odyssey release date, we do know its within this year or Q 1 or 2 of next.

Most people say that it will be this year, december most likely, but some sites are stating early 2008 and one had Q2, though i find Q1 most likely

Really no one knows, im guessing they are hoping for december release, but if not early 2008 most likely

And ya Blue dragon is good, made mostly for true jrpg fans, but i like games like LO alot more but Blue dragon def is better then what most reviewers stated.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Hmm i also just read that they plan on keeping feel plus up (long as lost odyssey does alright) to create more rpgs in the future,

so in all this feel plus was made to make exclusive rpgs for 360

According to www.gamerankings.com :

Blue Dragon: 77%: I do not recommend anything below 80%, for there are too many other games over 80%, that could be purchased, or rented, instead.

Lost Odyssey: ---%: Not yet rated. This one lies unconfirmed.

Cry On: ???: Doesn't even exist in www.gamerankings.com. This one also lies unconfirmed.

Well, at least you narrowed it down to Lost Odyssey, and Cry On...

Have you read the above posts? Lost odyssey will be out in december or next year, and cry on we have no clue about

Also blue dragon, like we discussed above, is either a game you love/like or hate, matters if you enjoy jrpgs

I think that Blue Dragon definately accomplished a lot for Microsoft. I have been playing it this week and found it to be a refreshing style of RPG. Also, it appeals to more casual RPGers then the hard core fans but I think hardcore RPGers and reviewers were expecting something different and therefore expectations did not meet reality. It is at least an 8 in my books (I like Team Xbox's review of it).

Lost Odyssey looks amazing and could be the diamond from the rough this Xmas. Its expectations are in check because of Blue Dragon, but I think it will easily exceed what everyone thought it would be. This could easily be a worldwide RPG hit. It will be one of the keys to success in Japan. If it does well, then it will pave the way for more, if it bombs in Japan then Microsoft will be in tough shape there going forward. But, the nice thing is that it is a large game so it should have some longevity to consistently sell for months if it is good. Also, Microsoft seems to be using as a model for Japanese developers to show them how they can build games that are world hits rather then just in Japan.

As for Cry On, I haven't really seen or heard much. For some reason Microsoft has kept really hush-hush about 2008. But 2008 seems to be shaping up great and may even be bigger then this Xmas... Too Human, Halo Wars, Fable 2, GTA IV, GTA IV Content, Alan Wake, Cry On, Infinite Undiscovery, Banjo Kazooie, Huxley, APB, and Saints Row 2 to name a few.

Yea i agree with you, but i find blue dragon to only be really really liked by true jrpg fans, or fans who are not getting bored of the turn based, and i know that gamespot etc have played countless, so it could be that, but then again every shooter would get low

Im curious on 2008, i hope microsoft has a fantastic game in the works for late 08, they need it to at least decently compete with ps3, though the lineup is anything but weak, but the ps3 one is rather amazing at this point (with ff 13 coming out next year that is) even without it though, still a very good lineup

O and BD accomplished a huge ammount in japan, which is what they wanted. Its sold to almost half of all 360 owners, and i know it probably pushed quite a few systems. If lost odyssey hits high scores with famatsu, 360 could get even more favorable and come out with more decent sale numbers (5k+ per week would be almost double...)

As of lately we all have been hearing of how Blue dragon has been a major dissapointment to some, while others have called it decent, to a good jrpg. Still to most of the world, it has been a dissapointment so before we go judging the other games being watched over by mistwalker, i think we should look at the differences and what other people have to say.

Ill try to hit the main points, but ill probably miss alot, and i mean alot.

Blue dragon-Blue dragon is a game being developed by ARTOON, and this is where the major difference comes in, most people have knowticed that Artoon also developed the great and fantastic game of Vampire Rain. This is where i believe Blue dragon may have gone down, being developed by not the most experienced group. Artoon was also making said Vampire Rain and others while the production of Blue dragon was taking place, so i believe they had other things on mind when making it.

When Blue Dragon was introduced, it was said to have been made to help save 360 in Japan, and that was mostly its primary purpose. You can see this by the fact that the mouth synch was done in Japanese instead of American, also by the color and design of the worlds. I believe this game was ment to appeal mostly to Japan, and also to the few Americans/others that desire a true Jrpg. You can also see this by the fact that Famatsu (however you spell it) etc gave it very high scores, and while on average Western reviews have given it low scores. You can also tell by the boss music, which was completely made to appeal to Japenese gamers.

Lost Odyssey-Game being developed by the People at Feel Plus, a group made just to help mistwalker. Its comprised of over 100 people, and 20+ being former SE employes. Supposedly, Feel plus is currently putting all efforts into this title, currently not making any other titles that anyone knows of. Feel Plus has been saying that this game is going great, and they say it really is looking good. Also Sakaguchi also is saying that most of his attention is going into Lost Odyssey, even while blue dragon as being made.

I Also believe that Lost odyssey will be much more of a Jrpg turn based combat that will appeal to more western gamers then Blue dragon, evidence of this is in the story, and this is a major difference i see in BD and LO. LO story is def more mature, and based on more human emotions, and seems much more appealing. The story is also being written by a Award winning story writer from Japan and also sakaguchi himself. Another example is how the Mouth synch is supposedly put into english instead of Japanese, unlike blue dragon. This i think shows MS wants rpgs for western gamers as well. The graphics in LO also prove to appeal to more western gamers, given a much more realistc effect and being very much more real, and, my opinion, alot better looking. Everyone else in it really just seems to appeal more to western gamers, then BD does.

Cry On-another game currenlty under development under mistwalker. Not much is know except ive heard its much more of a action jrpg then anything, I mentioned this game because like LO, we cannot judge it to early

I wrote this because i have seen quite a few posts from here and other sites on how LO and other projects will be "failures" to many just like BD. I dont see this and why i posted this so we know the difference. When SE produces a RPG that is a failure, doesnt mean the next new IP they create will also be considered a failure. We do not know if LO will be any good, it could turn out bad, but we cannot judge it so fast, just because BD did not as well as everyone hoped.

I would really like everyones imput, and opinions. Also tell me if im wrong. I would love to hear arguments why you think etc. There is alot of stuff i left out, and i mostly just hit the main ones, but im missing alot so feel free to add.

Good analysis, I'm really looking forward to all these games. Microsoft is really serious about getting the Japanese aboard the Xbox. And to be honest as fans of the console, we should be proud on what they are accomplishing. ^_^
