to me, the best move would be a to announce at october conference that they will release a red wii bundled with a red wiimote/nunchuck bundled with NSMBWii, to me that seems the perfetc thing to do since theyll already make huge sums of money off the game selling it to the existing userbase

If they were going to be that far off, they'd have altered their projection after the previous quarter.

Yet they didn't.  I'm going ot go with the notion that they know something you don't.

Well, that's probable. Not lowering the projections was a huge risk, so they have to have something to counter the slowing sales.

Indeed they do.

Simply look at the holiday 2008 line up and comapre it with the holiday 2009 line up.    We're talking Animal Crossing VS New SMB Wii, Wii Fit Plus (and FFCC: The Crystal Bearers in Japan).

Then early 2010 has the potential to release SMG 2 and MH3 in the US along with the black Wii bundle (we already know Nintendo is planning 1st partly like support for it in the west) and that's against absolutely nothing for the early portion of this year.

The Fall Media Summit in early October is going to show you exactly why they never dropped their FY projection.

i really don't think you are accurate tres its only because like other people already said above me if they were goignto be that off then they would have lowered and since they didn't they have something big maybe like a satrfox game and a nsmbwii bundle or a star fox bundle or something big that will get old ninty fans who haven't bought a wii to get one and for some the game will be appealing and as a result will sell a lot or they just have a 50 dollar or a 100 dollar price cut planned all i know for the time being is that they have something big we don't know about

I agree pricecut would be big, but until then sales YoY gap will keep on increasing, so when Holidays come it will be an almost impossible task to make up for the millions lost. I don't see how the Wii could sell 4 million+ or more this Holiday compared to the last one and then have a bigger Q1 next year compared to this. This year it was inflated because Wii HW was supply constrained last Holidays and a lot of people bought a Wii during Q1 for that reason.

yeah but next Q! wii has some uber system sellers like monkey ball :P


on a serious note its not really a question of whether nintendo will reach their targets (even source doesnt think that) but how close they come
