Wii is up in Japan after 8 weeks of Wii Sports Resort - 8 weeks.. Sound familiar?

Hmmm, Wii is up because of MH3, the Black Wii bundles and Obon. I'm sure it will be down to 30k levels by next week and sub 30k the week after.

but Tres isn't Obon a yearly thing? Also isn't Monster Hunter a core franchise (hardware boost should have only lasted a week or two), only selling 70k this week and probably not effecting hardware sales all that much? I think Wii will hover around 40 - 50k for a while as Wii Sport Resort gets word of mouthand really starts driving hardware sales.. We'll see though..

Obon is a Holiday where historically all consoles have gone up. Kind of like Golden week. All consoles were up this week, but the Wii remained at the same level, which means it was Obon which offset the drop. I say 35k next week and 28k the week after, remember there are no big releases until October and September is almost empty this year there so the Wii will drop, maybe at a slower rate, but it will until WF+ comes out.

i though 2009 was a harder year for Nintendo and the hole industrie.

I'm sure it'll drop more, only reason it didn't drop was because of the holiday. It should hit a higher ceiling for a while though. PS3 has some mid-low level games, nothing really console moving, wii doesn't really have anything so the status quo probably won't be changing anytime soon.

Note: Wii is back again to 20k levels in Japan. In the USA WSR effect looks like it has worn out already, since sales are back to the pre-WSR levels.
With September being an empty month for the Wii and quite packed in terms of price cuts and major games for the HD's, we can expect Wii to keep dropping until the Holidays. I don't think Wii Fit+ will move many more consoles than WSR did. As weeks go by, we can keep reinforcing the prediction that Wii will not reach the projections made by Nintendo, and won't be close.

Also, Nintendo might have a trick, they just can't reach their forecasts at this pace.
I predict a 199$ price cut for this Xmas season. If not sooner.

GH5 and Beatles RB will be really big hardware movers while the other 3 will help sustain some sales above our current low.

i really think 2009 was a great year for wii better than 2008 in all ways in sales it is up 40 percent yoy and there is way more third party supporrt and i am talking about the good ones and not the crappy ones..I think wii's 2009 and 2010 holiday line up is as good as 360's or ps3's but i still think its a little better than those other 2 consoles.. Thnks ninty for always being the best!
