One of my favourite games on the Nintendo consoles was Donkey Kong 2 for the Snes, with the Wii being released back in 2006 why has there not been a Donkey Kong game on the Wii console. Donkey Kong country was one of the greatest games released during the Snes era, with a soundtrack to boot. This game is awesome and I want there to a real quality Donkey kong on the Wii that does justice to the Snes game.

Rare did those games. Ever since they stopped, DK has gone downhill at analarming rate.

Becacuse in some point of history gamers started to reject 2D games and praise 3D generical sttuff.

But don't worry Warioland shake is here, Wayfoward is working on A boy and his Blob, Muramasa is great and NIntendo is going to Re-release "DK Jungle Beat" so maybe... maybe a 2D Donkey Kong is possible.

I found DK on the N64 quite enjoyable and deep. Deeper then the platforming of DKC.

But savior said it already: Rare made the DK platformers, and now that rare is purchased by Microsoft don't expect new platformers in the DK universe unless nintendo's ups the ante. Which I doubt, they have to much work to do on the wii with their more standard, and their completely innovative fare.

Nintendo forgot about DK, the last great game was DK64, but I agree with the OP that DKC2 was the best SNES game, of course after TLOZ:ALTTP.

Now the DK franchise is being whored out. the first 4 platfomrers were highly praised by the critics, customers, received awards, had great soundtracks, sold millions. The games after them were completely other games, that no one cared about. The bad thing is Miyamoto disliked the DKC series, so maybe he is part of the problem here. RARE did an amazing job. Nintendo should make a DKC for the Wii.

Have you played Jungle Beat? It kicks DKC's collectives arses, then does it again just for fun. Trust me, EAD Tokyo>>>Rare in its heyday.

EAD Tokyo is back at work. Unless they're the ones doing Pikmin 3, i think theirs could be a new Donkey Kong game
