There is zero wrong with us fans wanting it to stay the way it was.

There is however something wrong if people think our opinion on it is wrong.

@g-value:

You don't earn money by going on quests. Sidequests usually don't get you much money, unless you're doing hunts, and even then they're not very effective in terms of cost vs. time until you get up to the Behemoth King. You earn money by chaining kills and leveling your loot. I can earn a quarter of a million gil in about twenty minutes at level... what, thirty?

More than I will ever, ever reasonably need.

But chaining kills would be way to much of a chore. Overall no matter how you put it no matter how innovative the the combat sytem is its still boring.

Too much of a chore? It's just killing the same type of enemy more than once in a row!

I know but why can't they just give you enough money when you just kill any monster?

Did you seriously, seriously ask that? Because if you don't know the answer yourself, then you shouldn't be talking about game mechanics.

Next on these screens: "why do I have to level up my materia?" and "why can't all my spells be effective against any enemy?"

Monsters in FFXII don't keep money in their pockets.

It is like that in FFVIII also, you gain money when you get paid. Earning more the higher the SeeD level you are.

Haven't played FFXII in a while, but I think you gained it from bounties or something.

You gain money by killing monsters and selling the items you got from them at the market.

I could have sworn you could also gain it by doing side quests. -.-

i really dont get it...why VII vs XII...in my opinion XII is not nearly the or one of the top titles in the FF series...a FF VII vs IX would be understandable...or VII vs X but not XII...com on XII was great but not nearly one of the best FFs!

FF VII, X & IX >>>>>>>>>> XII

you're putting the best in the series against the worst in the series. XII is utter garbage.

Man, your threads ask for trouble! Lets see...we're comparing (arguably) the most beloved FF to one of the most universally despised.

FF VII.

Also I have seen change in the series since I began playing it over 15 years ago. Maybe not huge changed, but some changes none the less.

I have always enjoyed needing to think during a battle and having to do things to win. In FFXII I could easily get by just going into my menu, setting up my gambits, get into a battle and just sit back and let it do it's thing.

That for me was just boring and FFXII lovers just need to accept that. Just like I accept that they actually enjoyed it.

This is an absolutely horrible reason to prefer XII to VII.  Most of VII's battles can be played by taping down X.  Later on, once more Materia(Final Attack & Magic Counter) is available this is especially true.  The taping down X thing is also true for the majority battles in FFs though.  There's only a few battles in each iteration that actually require some thought to win, and XII has its fair share as well. However, if you've only made it up to Raithwall you've yet to experience many of the tougher battles.
