I'm out on the DS question (can't find a power cord for my Phat...
) but as for the Wii...mostly. The games are still quality and, excepting the recent dry spell (reminds me of the N64 days) they've been plentiful too.
But NoA is opting not to localize several games (Wii and especially DS), and that does make me unhappy. Additionally, I would like to have more than a month's notice that a game is releasing: I can understand not releasing long-term steady hype, but it IS nice to know that Game X does exist and will be released sometime in the future...

Sorry, I don't follow.
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Mario Strikers Charged
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Super Paper Mario
WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Sure Nintendo could release more of their franchises on the Wii, but I could say I'm happy.

I can't speak for Mario Tennis but I never played the original Pikmin for more than an hour. I own New Play Control: Pikmin and I think it's far from junk.
Pixel Art can be fun.
they way to get past the craqzy release schedule is to remeber to look at games that have already been out for a while. so the fact they reeased nothing i wanted over christmas (not including diaster which was awesome:)) didnt mater because it gave me a chance to pick up fire emblem, a franchise id never got into before. so the next time there is a dry spell ill be able to pick up warioland or super paper mario. thats unliekly to be thbis year tho
nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

so much content here, and...sorrow...but don't mind me, carry on with the delusions (sigh)
most of nintendo games this gen are better than their predecesors last gen, so i'm really happy

| megaman79 said: Your question for the topic headline contradicts the question in the topic itself. Happy, yes but that depends on how many more games they casualize, Zelda was a disapointment and SMG was too easy. Betrayed, no. I understand why they have done what they did. Without doing it they could have dissapeared forever. Casuals saved the company and lets be honest, Wii Sports, Fit, Nintendogs, Brain Training, etc are remarkable for what they offer. New styles of games and self improvement. Now, you mention PS360 owners feeling betrayed. Isn't that because they are either late to get a PS360, and consequently felt betrayed not neccessarily by Nintendo but by third parties, or had rejected the Gamecubes image 5 yrs ago and went PS2 long before this gen. Lastly graphics, hmm, who's responsible for this? Nintendo, 3rd parties, consumers for not being willing to accept it? |
To be honest, I wouldn't say SMG was casualized...Mario has always been a casual game. SMG is harder than Mario 64 to me. (If you try to get all stars. I ragequit on the hardest ones. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
And just curious, how was Zelda casualized? (I have yet to play TP much, so I wouldn't know)
Anyways, yeah, I'm fine with the 1st party offerings, even though we havent gotten much since Mario Kart Wii. But then, there's always those DS games. (KSSU for the win) And no, I don't feel betrayed, that's just stupid. The only thing the Wii needs now is more 3rd party support.
I guess I'm a little disappointed, but not betrayed. Still, I don't have much time for games, so I don't really mind. 2008 was pretty bare, but other than that, I've been happy with all the great Nintendo games.
Currently Playing: Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros for Wii U
Predictions:
Super Mario Galaxy will pass Super Mario 64 in total sales CORRECT!
Not betrayed, no. That's silly. What is this, a soap opera? :p
But I do feel they could try to release a few more AAA 1st or 2nd party titles. Especially with all the resources they have and the truckloads of money pouring in. And I mean core titles like Mario, Zelda, F-Zero, Starfox, Kirby, Pikmin, 1080, Paper Mario, etcetera...
I mean I'm fine with the whole casual thing and I absolutely think casual titles are a good thing to have on a console, but I just think that the way things stand right now, Nintendo's casual efforts massively overshadow their core efforts. Yes we got Zelda and Galaxy and Corruption and Brawl from Nintendo, but at the same time we have Wii Sports, Play, Fit, Music, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Wario Ware, Link's CT, and a bunch more, all of which are casual titles (don't bother trying to claim MK and AC are not casual, they are).
Yes I KNOW the profits from those easy and quick to create casual titles are like over 9000 times higher than from core games that spend time in development for years and sell less, but still.
And yeah, there are those 'New Play Control!' titles, but I honestly don't care too much, I've played them years ago. I'm sure we'll see a new Zelda, maybe a new Mario, and probably another core title here and there, but, well, it's really kinda like Nintendo doesn't care too much about those kind of games anymore.
And yes, I'm aware we'll get Punch-out and Sin and Punishment, but those are 2 titles I'm not interested in at all. Also, the original Sin and Punishment is one of the most overrated and overly hyped games in history. I guess there must be some people who like it, but it's really not that good. At all, really. As a game, it's just plain bad. Feel free to flame me if you feel the frothing desire to do so. Please, you're welcome to. I know you want to.
Actually, the only game from Nintendo I'm looking forward this year (so far, I know we'll get more) is Endless Ocean 2.
Still, I really like and totally respect Nintendo as a company.
*Edit: I totally forgot about the DS in my post. But, well, looking at the games already available and the future release schedule, I think Nintendo has too. Seriously, where are all the great DS games? :s (I'm talking about Nintendo here, not 3rd parties). There are so many games and lucrative franchises Nintendo could put on DS and make tons and tons of money off, it's actually mind-boggling to think why Nintendo hasn't (and doesn't seem to will)...
