Forums - Gaming - Rare: Virtual Console may see Banjo and Perfect Dark

http://au.ds.ign.com/articles/817/817149p1.html

It basically says that there are no immediate plans but that it could definately happen. Personally i hope they make it to virtual console and XBLA so i can play them in high-def and online.

They also mention other possible DS crossovers after Viva Pinata, which is read "it may get a Banjo." Personally I really hope this doesnt happen, because if the DS gets Banjo Kazooie, then i have to purchase the handheld console, and i really dont want to spend all that cash.

@ishy. PLAY THEM!!! If you own a wii or a 360 and they eventually come to the VC/XBLA you must play them. Banjo is a platformer that genuinely rivals Mario in my opinion (obviously in quality, not sales) and PD was the best shooter of that generation after goldeneye

@starcraft: I'll go even further argue that Banjo-Kazooie(the original) is even a better game than Mario 64. Mario 64 was revolutionairy, but Banjo was the first 3D platformer to get a shot at it quality-wise, and in my eyes it succeeded.

Tooie was great, but couldn't keep up with the original. It did certain things better(boss battles), but the gameplay was too mixed up with new elements(shooter-levels*, too many new moves, egg ammunition like fire and grenade eggs*, humor was not as good as in the original IMO), it forgot it had to be a platform game in the first place. Never the less, it was a great game.

I would buy any new Banjo-game without thinking.

*those two things might be fun to see back in the new 360-game, as a parody to all the FPS games on that platform. But just in a few minigames or in a multiplayer-mode.

Bold call on Mario, but i think i may just agree with you.  I also simply would purchase a BK game without thinking, which is why i hope there isn't a DS version cause ill have to buy the system.  AND OMG I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF MULTIPLAYER. It's be so interesting to see what they could come up with in this department

I would buy it on VC. Im sure the wii's power would help with texture and stuff, for example the trees in the opening would look alot better. also, BK for DS could be kinda crappy... the DS is a pretty weak system for 3D graphics. BanjoKazooie4:the return of grunty or something as a DS pro launch title (or whatever DS2 is called) would be awsome

Personally, I liked Banjo more than Mario mainly because it eliminated some of the more annoying things about Mario 64 (having to re-enter the level every time to get a different star), offered up more variety, was more humorous and silly, and seemed like an all around more polished experience. (Mario 64 was obviously more revolutionary and important from a game perspective though)

I recently played Perfect Dark and can honestly say that it did not age well at all.

I can see your point about Perfect Dark ageing. But on XBLA in high definition with xbox live multiplayer functionality? AWESOME
