Forums - Gaming - Question regarding multiplatform games

Words Of Wisdom said:
There's almost no reason to get a PS3 version over a 360 version unless you really want to avoid the 360 dpad... but then it's just easier to get a different 360 controller than a PS3.

Free online gaming would be the biggest reason to get the PS3 version.  That's assuming that some people aren't gold members of live.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

This might be aimed more so to Xbox 360 and PS3 owners, that own both consoles. Which version do you tend to pick over the other. For example BioShock released on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Which version would you have bought if it was your first time actually playing BioShock.

Same can be said for games like Madden NFL or wrestling games.

xbox360.  while additional content would generally be a deciding factor (even the possibility to purchase content in the future), the 360 bioshock looked better, ran better, and was a considerable amount cheaper.

That is incorrect.  There was ONE texture on a Big Daddy that was low rez, but it was corrected in a patch.

Most of my games are 1st and 2nd party games.  But when I do by multi-platform, it's the PS3.  Aside from my staple reasons, it just so happens that it works out better that way.  Games like Bioshock and Eternal Sonata are better on the PS3.  And Oblivion graphics and load times are better on the PS3.  Sure it's less four DLC than the 360 version, but after logging over 265 hours in the game and I haven't finished it yet, I'm not complaining because that's my preferred trade off.  My staple reason for the PS3 versions are Dual Shock 3 preferred, more stable hardware, game installation (upgrading the PS3 to 320GB was relatively inexpensive), free online (since I'm not online too often), and better audio.  When there are blatant obviously differences such as the shotty PS3 port F.E.A.R, that where the 360 version comes in.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

I was planning to buy Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. But couldn't decide whether to get the PS3 version or the 360 version. Really when it comes to online play I generally by the version that my friends play. Call of Duty 4 the majority of my peeps play the 360 version.

Achievements and trophies don't matter to me like the use to. I just play games for enjoyment if I beat it I beat it. But on topic, when it comes to multiplatform, online is what matters and so does diverse game collection and currently my PS3 collection is small. So I should of purchased the PS3 version of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End!

Maybe. It just depends how you want to look at it.  If the online aspect isn't that big of a deal with Caribbean and if both the 360 and PS3 versions run practically the same, you might want to opt for the PS3 version for the sake of support.  It does sounds to be a bit of a stretch, but the PS3 is now the obvious underdog in regards to sales.  So if you really are indifferent to either versions from all your personal reason, maybe you should get the PS3 version.

Despite what you think, even 2K (the devs) said it looks better on the PS3.

It's not the first late port that has. (Obilvion and Eternal Sonata)
