Forums - Nintendo - Your opinion on Animal Crossing Wii

I started checking out the reviews over there and found out there is a bug that kills the grass/snow the more you play... Have you had this happen to you? Is it a big deal?

It's not a bug--it's just like in real life.  The more a particular patch of grass is stepped on, the faster it dies.  It eventually grows back, though.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I am sad to say it, but I am on the same boat as nordlead.

I found it to work better as a handheld game. You should check out the DS version first to see if it is your cup of tea.

The only problem there, just like the Wii version is that prices never drop on Nintendo games. Game was released at the end of 2005 and it is still full priced. -.-

Yeah, I know what you mean. The DS version is actually more expensive at the moment. So, are the chores kinda like collecting berries in the pokémon games?

@WessleWoggle

The collecting berries in the pokémon games is like this: you see a tree with berries, you pick them up and the tree goes away. You can plant one berry in the spot where the tree was and the water it and come back later to pick up more berries. This "later" varies from berry to berry. Some take a few hours to grow and some can take even days.

From what you tell me I think the planting flowers and trees is kinda like that. I'm still not sure I would like a game where the main thing it's got going on is chores :-/

The main thing is collecting furniture, decorating your house, talking to your neighbors (they tend to say the same thing but every once in awhile they say some pretty funny new things), catch bugs, fish, find fossils, donate to museum (paintings, fish, bugs, and fossils) and upgrading your house. You have to plant exotic fruit trees (to sell exotic fruit, worth more than the fruit that your town starts with), fish, catch bugs, sell fossils, sell turnips (turnip market is where the real money is at).

I like it because I like fishing, catching bugs, and collecting furniture.  However, most people either really like it or don't like it.  There are many more things to do such as design patterns to post on flags or ground (love making Nintendo patterns), planting a bunch of flowers to make hybrid flowers, and many more things.  It is a shame that they took the NES games away from WW and CF (because they would rather make the money selling them on VC).  The original GCN version had NES games to collect which was pretty cool.  They had Punch-Out!!, Balloon Fight (my personal favorite), Clu Clu Land, and many more.  So if you aren't into online play or can't get on WiFi then you should maybe check out the GCN version since it has the NES games.
