Forums - Sales - Is the end of Wii finally beginning in Japan?

Are you crazy? The only reason HD consoles are so high in Japan is because of games like Street Fighter 4, Yakuza 3, Star Ocean 4 or Resident Evil 5. The Wii had nothing. Apart from that, it hasn't had pricecuts, bundles, new colors.....

Do not forget that the Wii is receiving games like Monster hunter G, WiiSports Resort, Monster Hunter 3, Tales of 10, Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers or Dragon Quest 10.

Despite that, I am really happy of what is currently happening in Japan, so this way Nintendo realises that they are not unstoppable and must wake up.

COMPETITION FOREVER.

Hardware | This Week | Last Week
NDS | 43,342 | 47,601
PSP | 59,568 | 35,588
WII | 16,560 | 17,876
PS3 | 39,835 | 36,513
360 | 14,994 | 11,795
PS2 | 4,954 | 5,099

The newest media create sales are above..personaly I like to combine hi def sales because that market is basically the same users. If you do that, HD sold 54k versus 16k for Wii. That's over 3-1.

Additionally, I saw a february japan software sales chart..something like 8 of the top ten was Sony or 360. Nintendo only had 2 of ten for the month.

Next, we have the USA, just in the last month, for the first time EVER, Wii's have remained in stock at Amazon.com and major retailers for weeks on end. This has never happened before. Sure, Wii is liable to sell nearly 800K for the month, but might it begin to decline from there as demand is finally satiated? The point is regardless of sales, Wii has never been able to stay in stock before. I went to Best Buy recently I saw like 8 on the shelf. Next time I saw like 20.

Gaming trends often start in Japan. The DS becoming a phenomenon is the great example of that. Is the Wii losing popularity the next one?

Quite alot of meaningless talk in your post but peharps the most meaningless was the fact you were folly enough to not just stick to Japan as your heading suggested.  Instead you decided to bring in the US despite the fact Wii outsells it competitors between 2-1 and 3-1 each week in that region and despite the fact Wiis year on year increase in sales in that region are immense.

@tuoyo: I was thinking that too, but then I realized his point with the title is that what happens in Japan will happen in the whole world (using the DS as an example).

I'd say it has more to do with the significant increase in unit production per month. Isn't it over 2 million now?

Maybe everyone has a wii already in japan and the US.

In Canada it is almost impossible to find a wii in stock. If you go to a store and ask if they have any wiis in stock they look at you like you are crazy.

I wouldn't be suprised if PS3 outsold Wii in Japan this year; everyone sy it with me folks: FINAL FANTASY 13!

/thread

There is no games people want out, the price hasn't dropped since launch, it's not bundled with Wii Sports there and the other systems has just recieved sales boosts from big releases.

Silly, silly thread, but I did figure we'd start to see them around now.

It's true. The Wii is doomed when we could readily buy one at store. They are supposed to be sold-out forever!

not here and not in japan.

but it selling decently

Haha, when I'm going to cut my gnarliest vines, I'm going to get you from my shed.

Look, the real reason is.....

You now what? I don't care.

The Wii will still sell like a God for the next 2 years anyway.

That's right I went there.

With bells on.

Wii sales will skyrocket with the release of MH3.
