As a JRPG fan who has never played an Ogre Battle game, I'll definitely buy it...soon as I scrape up the funds. 800 points=$8=a lot of money for a currently unemployeed English major with a rapidly dwindling bank account.

Food > JRPG's (slightly)

Don't complain about how much games cost.  People get angry about that sort of thing around here.

I'm bemoaning my poverty, not complaining about how much games cost.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Lately I have been thinking about this game that I played for 64 that was a combination of RTS and SRPG. It was in Nintendo power and had a little contest for awhile. It was a pretty fun game.

Then I read this and it sounds just like that game. So it turns out that the game I am thinking of is Ogre battle. I will have to check into it then. 800 points sounds like a fair price.

You are definitely thinking of Ogre Battle 64, which is the sequel to this game.

So this is the SNES version. Does it play the same way? Checkerboard, class rank, monster catching?

The checkerboard is made up of 3x2 instead of 3x3, but you can fit between those three rows so it's essentially 5x2.

Classes and leveling is there.

I.... actually don't know if monster catching is there.

"But Khuutra, I'm European!"

....Shit!

This.

Well, you never know, maybe they'll stop being stupid and bring it over to Europe too!

It's on my very long to-download list. Which is unfortunately growing longer every week. I don't even have time to play my retail games these days. :(
