Forums - Microsoft - Does installing Tales of Vesperia make a noticable difference?

Sorry getting off topic guys, but I have to continue this hehe. Yeah I have owned Lunar 1 on Sega CD, PS1, and GBA. I still have have the GBA game actually. I liked all version of Lunar 1. Although I didn't some of the changes they made in Silver Star Story, overall it was better game. For some reason, I didn't like the PS1 version Lunar 2. I still prefer the Sega CD version till this day. Okay rant over everyone.

Unfortunately I've given up all hope of Lunar 3. Game Arts was purchased by Square Enix if I'm not mistaken and we haven't seen a Lunar or Grandia game since

For anyone that doesn't have it. Buy Tales of Vesperia, as it's been mentioned before the game has been discontinued so once your local retailer sells all their copies the game is gone for good To my friends in Europe, I hope they release the game soon. You will NOT be disappointed.

I have the GBA version as well. A little upsetting that the whole Nash thing was changed though. It didn't follow through 100%, still very enjoyable game.

As for Eternal Blue, I never got around to playing after Lucia went back to the Blue Star, but I was very sad when Nal started talking about Alex passing away.

Square-Enix released Grandia III by the way in February 2006.

Yeah that was sad. You never played the Epilogue? Do yourself a favor and do so. I don't want to spoil it for you, but it's worth. Do it for Lucia!

So Square Enix did release Game Arts game since they acquired them? I would say that's encouraging but when Game Arts has the free time to code Super Smash Brothers Brawl for Nintendo, it doesn't indicate that SE is keeping them busy with new Grandia and Lunar games. Especially after that horrid, non Game Arts coded, Lunar Dragon Song was released. It's been almost three years and not a peep for GA. I have a feeling Square Enix just forgot about them like they did Quest and Quintet. They've let the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre franchises rot as well

Well it was only about 2-3 months ago that I played the game so everything is still fresh in my mind. I will get back to it at some point but for me that game just didn't have the same charm that Silver Star did. Even though it is still a great game and one of my favorite battle systems.

Do not fear! I SHALL DO IT FOR LUCIA!

I wish Atlus would have picked up a company like Game Arts, although I doubt they would have had the money to lay out. Atlus at least is a company that values fanbase over all else and I am about 90% sure they would have given us Lunar 3 by now.

Vesperia loads pretty quick on the HD (dunno how it is on disc, never tried). The battles load time isn't instant, but close enough (2-3 seconds). I recommend it.

I have a crappy 20gb HD, but I end up installing all my games anyway. I only really play one or two at a time, so I can handle the space. The install time isn't too bad either. It does suck when playing multiple disc RPGs though...

Anyway, seems I have another game I'll have to check out (Lunar). Done by the people behind Grandia, I'm interested.

If you want my opinion, I think it is much better than Grandia. Not knocking Grandia of course, it is still an awesome game.

Grandia III though left me a bit disappointed, I couldn't even get a few hours into it without just giving up entirely.

Come back Game Arts!

By the way, just looking at the box art should make you want this game! You can grab it for like $35-50.

Lunar 2 was actually my favorite in the series. I really enjoyed Lunar 1, but Lunar 2 just was a better overall game to me. When they did the Saturn/PS1 remakes, it further solidified my opinion. They made drastic changes to Lunar 1, all the had to do for Lunar 2 was add a few dungeons that they didn't have to time to put in the Sega CD game.

There is one main reason why I love Lunar 1 more than Lunar 2.

I'm not a fan of the changes they made to Ghaleon in Silver Star Story Complete. In Silver Star he had a better motivation for becoming the antagonist IMO. In addition he was more menacing. Compare what he did to the Dragons in Silver Star to what he did to them in Silver Star Story Complete. Not only that my favorite moment in Lunar 1 was the Black Dragon cave, it was not in the remake. Ghaleon clapping and laughing manically when he thought Alex ruined his chances of becoming a Dragonmaster was the highlight of the game for me.

As far as Grandia goes, I hadn't played a Grandia since Grandia Extreme. I was severely disappointed in that game. It was just a dungeon crawler. Grandia 2 was the high point of the series IMO.

Then I don't think you will think highly of Grandia 3 then. X-treme was also a big disappointment for me and Grandia 3 caused me to stop playing after only a few short hours because the storyline and voice acting made me feel like a was playing a game for someone half my age.

Hmmm...that sounds like my experience with Final Fantasy VIII. I couldn't stomach that game after a few hours. Ironically I popped out the FFVIII disc, put in Grandia 1 and never touched FFVIII again.
