id prolly get a 5-10 gig one at most. this is good news tho. i hope they announce brawl DLC soon, if ever
| Daileon said: Yes, this. My post was kinda confusing, but you understood. The sizes are "weird" because the "conventional" HDs are 20, 30, 40, 60, 80GB... I've never seen a HD of 32 or 64 GB, unless they're SSDs or some kind of flash memory. |
Technically, even those that are 20, 30, 40, 60, etc...are not what is listed. Those are marketing numbers because they are easier for consumers to grasp. The actual numbers are slightly smaller. The actual binary volume of a 100 GB HDD is 93 GiB. RAM is the same by the way.
SSD's have mostly been marketed using the proper binary number system (multiples of 2) which is why you see sizes such as 32 and 64 GB.

Solid State Drive.
It's a new type of hard drive that doesn't use a magenetic mechanical drive but works closer to RAM or memory cards.

Well, I remember somebody from Nintendo saying fairly recently that they have a new storage device answer on the way, for those who were complaining about the current situation.
So well see, but I wouldn't doubt it at all if we get a hard drive this year.

HATING OPHELIA- Coming soon from Markosia Comics!
@Shanobi - I think that was about the soon-to-come option to download directly to the SD cards
To be honest, I highly doubt this rumor or that a USB HDD is on the way at all. The most logical storage solution would be SDHC. The Wii already has a SD card slot and is only a firmware update away from allowing SDHC cards which have a maximum capacity of 2 TB's and faster transfer rates over SD.
Current SDHC cards max out at 32 GB ($80) though there are lots of 16 GB cards for $27 and the prices are dropping as larger capacities are released. 8 GB is just $14.

HAH, I got a Western Digital portable external hard drive the size of the first iPod (you can stick this external into your pocket!) and it's 320 GB. I got it for $103. Not a bad price. A better deal than the SD Memory Cards the Wii has. $24.99 - $34.99 for 2 GB cards? Pffft...
