Wasn't he the guy that made that comment "I don't like cutting the price of the console, I don't think its good for consumers"

Something along those lines anyway ... they shot the Gamecube price to peices by the time the generation had ended .... talking about hypocritical.

It was Iwata who said that, and he wasn't the president of the company 'til after the GC era.

Iwata became president of Nintendo in 2002.

I thought Iwata became president right before the DS.

Nope. Right after the 'Cube launched.

I guess I can no longer consider myself a Nintendo fanboy

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I'm pretty sure that Pretendo is right. I seem to remember that Yamauchi stepped down shortly after the start of the GameCube era

though Wikipedia seems to confirm this. June 1st, 2002

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

So I was half right after all =P

Regardless, it wasn't Miyamoto who said it. Miyamoto was the guy who wanted to make the Wii into a system that could be sold for ninety-nine dollars right off the bat.

Miyamoto being sad is sad in and of itself!
