Forums - Gaming - Women Portrayal in gaming

I think men complain more about sexism in videogames (towards women) then women actually do.

I agree about alyx Vance, she is a better example,of what can be done. You're, I did forget about her. The characters in final fantasy 12 were good (not great characters, but thats a topic for another time).

Yes I am a fan of the Playstation 3, but I am an even bigger fan of intelligent and rational dialog. (If you are up for an intelligent exchange of ideas, you are more than welcome to add me as a friend)

Samus, pre zero-suit, is probably a good example. Though one could say that the whole motivation of some of the games was merely to see her in her zero-suit (get good endings, see various degrees of bare Samus), so it somewhat muddies her credibility.

I think even post-Zero Suit she's a good example. The act that she's an attractive woman hasn't turned her into a sex object.

@Montana:

That's kind of to be expected, isn't it? There's more of us to talk about it. Especially on a male-dominated board like this one.

It's just kind of ironic, and I wasn't just talking about Vgchartz. I've been to gaming sites with plenty of female members and most of them seem not to care as much as the men do.

It is odd, I agree. I think a certain amoun of it has to do with the fact that people don't want to be labeled according to their feminist views - or maybe the kidn of women who worry about that sort of thing don't play video games where it's a problem?

There needs to be a study.

Maybe all those women like the big rippling muscles of those macho male characters like Marcus Fenix?

@Vetteman94

Dear god I hope not. The human race would be in such decline (although it is probably more than likely)

One word , Yuna .

Four words: Rikku had no clothes.

 I thought Rikku was a little boy !! its hard to tell difference between the males and female with SE characters.

you must be confusing Rikku with Riku xD

 yeah, But, wouldnt that make both men and women gamers really no different then one another?   So there is your equality, in a very skewed sense.
