Judith is DAMN fine. Rita's spells are AMAZING. Sheena's just great. Kratos? Why... He's cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Family guy aside, he is a lot more than just the wings. He can pull the whole mercenary thing off, he can also be like an angel, and his fighting style with magic and swords were awesome. His whole betrayal and awkward reunion with the party afterwards was great. PLUS he comes out with the whole "I am your father" thing. Plus he can cast Judgment.

Frankly, I only started thinking Yuri was badass and cool after he murders Ragou.

The whole "The law may have let you get away, but I certainly won't" made me like him a lot more. And the part where he got his ass kicked by the rest of the party for trying to go solo made me lol.

Highlight for spoilers.

First of all Yuri has Savage Wolf Fury. Second Yuri unlike Kratos does not need wings or awesome hair or magic to be awesome. Third if you actually played the normal storyline of Symphonia and played Symphonia 2 you would know that Kratos coming back never happened. Explaining Yuri anymore would prove as a spoiler so i'm going to leave it at that. No offence but i REALLY think you sould replay ToV because i don't think you get the whole concept behind Yuri and Estelle.

In no real order...

Skies of Arcadia (Both the DC and GC versions, I owned both)
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 10
Chrono Cross
Kingdom Hearts 2 (Loved the first but this game expanded on everything that was great!)
Lost Oddyssey
Xenosaga 1 (hated the second and never touched the 3rd)
Final Fantasy 8
Grandia 2
Star Ocean 3 TTEOT

I love the genre but have never played
Phantasy Star 1-4
Any Tales game
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 1-3 5-6 Playing 4 now on the DS
Never played a Breath of fire game
Fire Emblem
Dragon Quest 1-6

I have a very limited amount of time but if any of you can suggest a great RPG that is easy to get ahold of and somewhat cheap...

You sould really get ToV. You won't regret it.

Vagrant Story had no business looking as good as it did on the PS1. I am so damn serious. That looks almost comparable to the really early trailers of Shenmue on the Saturn.

Just copy and paste the embed text under the "share" tab, make the post, press edit, then finish editing without changing anything! Piece of cake.

And now I will watch this, do excuse me.

I just noticed a few more names in there. Executive producer was Sakaguchi.

A lot of talent went into that gem. Man I wish they would give us a sequel.

Everyone in this thread should watch the awesomeness contained in that video, just because it was one hell of a nice looking PS1 game, even now. It aged quite well.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

1. Suikoden II (moon bird recipe FTW!)

2. chrono trigger

3. Final Fantasy VII

4. Xenosaga

5. Suikoden V

6. Wild arms

7. Breath of Fire III

8. Lost Odyssey

9. Final Fantasy X

10. Beyond the Beyond

I would also like to mention Shining Force 1-3.  I don't put them on the list because they aren't quite JRPG's, but are strategy JRPG's, but I would put them at the top of the list if they counted.  BTW I'm still praying that one day shining force 3 scenario's 2 and 3 somehow make it stateside...

My jaw dropped when I first saw the game on my PS1. It dropped again when I popped it into my PS2 with smoothing on.

Maybe it will drop again tomorrow when I pop it in with smoothing and upscaling.

This is without smoothing on. Still looks great for a PS1 title.

Yuri doesn't need any of that to be cool? That's like saying pop doesn't need sugar to be sweet. All of that add up to who Kratos is. A 4000 year old hero with supernatural powers strong enough to wipe out the other members of your ToS team by himself.

And you misunderstood my awkward return to the party. I meant after the first betrayal at the Tower of Salvation.

I dunno. They're both cool, but Kratos has definitely had a bigger impact on me. Clean and simple.

And fear not, any day now, when I'm not too busy, I will return to ToV, and finish Grade Grinding with Rita and achieve the piggy bank achievement and start my 2nd playthrough.

Yeah, I finally have a sig.

In no particular order

Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (sega Saturn Version)
Ys book I & II
Shining Force II
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete (sega saturn version)
Tengai Makyou IV (aka Far East of Eden)
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Grandia
Chrono Trigger
Phantasy Star Online ep I & II
Final Fantasy VI

Panzer Dragoon Saga

Grandia (Sega Saturn)

Tengai Makyou IV

Lunar Eternal Blue (sega saturn)

Good make sure you pay attention to everything on your 2nd playthrough so you can understand the storyline better. But i can understand how you think ToS is better then ToV since ToS was you first Tales game. But you have to admit one thing, Yuri had a better fighting style then Kratos. And what I mean by Yuri does not need cool hair and wings to be awesome is that Yuri's back story alone makes awesome. His funny personality and fighting style just adds too his awesomeness.

This young fella right here would eat Yuri and Kratos for breakfast.
