Only 130 million consoles sold by the time the 360 was launched. Isn't that when a gemeration ends? when a new one begins?

Just because a new gen begins with a console launch doesn't mean another ends.

If 720 launches tomorrow and nintendo and sony does don't release a console for another 5 years which gen will we be officially in?

I think all three consoles will be around for a much longer time this gen so anything above 250m is possible.

Wow, thats incredible pace compared to last Gen.
Anyway, there are still alot more consoles to be sold this Gen, and theres maybe a few PS3 and Wii price cuts to come, and maybe a small 360 cut.

My guess for this gen, 150 Million wii, 50 millions ps3 and 80 million 360. All the systems will reach great market and all of three will make profit for the owners and can be considered a sucess.

This generation: around 270 million.

Wii: 155m
360: 62m
PS3: 53m

Just because a comapny pulls the plug on a console an launches a new one doesn't mean that the generation is over.

I am pretty sure it will surpass 250 million.

The HD twins together are easily going to pass 100 million, and the Wii is set for around 150 million.
