Forums - Sony - IGN GIVES LAIR A 4.9

Maybe Factor 5 should look for an another publisher for their future projects....like Nintendo.

They had great collaboration in the past.

they should have let people use the anolog sticks as alternate controls it would have at least gotten a 7 or 8

PSNTAG K_I_N_G__COKE

The King Of The Iron Fist tournament

What they SHOULD have done is spent more time perfecting the game.

Hmm some people bought it on gametrailers.

Some of them like the game and say you have to get used to the sixaxis controls others are saying it is crap.

 It better be

I remember watching videos with the dragons turning around fast and i can't f*ckin believe you can't change the lock. I feel the same way i felt when i heard about big rigs the first time, can't be true.

God, you have to be desperate to put Singstar and Folklore in the AAA list. That`s like saying stuff like DQS or many non-games are AAA.
If you want to show what PS3 offers, stick to Uncharted, R&C and UT3. Then you won`t be surprised when reviews show up.

I think part of the problem with the control is that the framerate in Lair seems a bit inconsistent (15fps at some points, i'd estimate). I have admittedly seen very little of Lair, but it is hard going from a game where you constantly get 60fps (Metroid Prime 3) to a game where the frame rate is so inconsistent. Then again, it's hard going from a 9.5/10 game to a 4.9/10 game.

Considering how many awesome games are out right now there is no reason to waste your time on a game like Lair. You've got Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3 that were just released and look to be the top games released so far this year for crying out loud.

I say so far this year, because I'm fairly confident that Halo 3, Super Smash Brothers: Brawl and Mario Galaxy will all be rated even higher despite the lofty bar set by both Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3.

Even 1up gave it a pretty bad score. Only a 6.0

"Ultimately, Lair is a game that you'll want for its eye-popping experience rather than its gameplay. So buy it if you want to justify all the thousands you spent on your PS3 and that 1080p HDTV you can see from the International Space Station. Don't buy it if you want a dragon that does what it's damn well told."

In the end, you get the game to play a game, not to watch it.

lol that comment would be vaild if 1up weren't so bias.

This is the first score in a long time i seen 1up give higher then IGN.

If lair was a wii game it get a 3.0.

This can't be good. So let me get this straight, how many AAA PS3 games have gotten bad scores so far? (1)Lair, (2)Heavenly Sword although it did get some good reviews, (3)Warhawk also got a few good scores as well. I can't really think of anymore right now.

Well the "Great Gaming Avalanche of 2007" began two weeks ago starting with Madden 2008 and so far, out of the Big 3, the standings are as follows......

As of right now in terms of good games, good reviews and good games to come.....

1. Microsoft (Bioshock, Madden08 are and did pretty good as of right now)
2. Nintendo (Although Madden version was the worst, MP3 comes out on top and is probably the best Wii game out right now. DS also has good games out.
3. Sony (Madden comparisons reviews w/360. Most AAA games are kinda not leading to everyones expectations. Looks like the "REAL" AAA games comes out 2008.)

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

reading  this article which ign put out only a couple hours ago it seems like they could have rushed their review out..  since they didnt know the game was coming out today.. but its still a very poor score nevertheless

... Did you read the article you linked to? The street date was broken. So the game wasn't coming out today. However sony said if the date is broken may as well sell it, since it is released reviews can now be published without any sort of exclusivity agreement. Notice how nearly all the time the earliest reviews for games are the highest. Argeements are made that if a site/magazine can publish a review earlier than everyone else they will bump the score up a little. Perhaps not written in contract form but definetly agreed on. So basically their review wasn't rushed, it was written ahead of time and they were simply waiting till they could publish it.

Also technically a AAA game is simply a title that has a huge budget and receives heavy promotion at events etc. It has nothing to do with scores. However it seems to have been turned into some sort of score thing.

Using the score logic I would say that none of HS, Lair or warhawk could be called an AAA game. Personally I would say it's 90% and above, although some may disagree and say 85% and above. So far at gamerankings HS is the only one over 85% (it's at 85.3%) and the IGN Uk review hasn't been added yet. I think saying 85%+ is AAA is pretty generous though, a lot of titles achieve over 85%, 90 is the real barrier to break.

If we go by the actual definition I would say Warhawk and HS are definetly AAA games. They were heavily promoted by sony and both had pretty huge budgets.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
