Because the ps3 can handle a time based game(were metal rusts etc..), which was demonstrated using ps3 hardware.

You mean like how in Animal Crossing if you don't play for a week or more all the people in the town ask where you've been and if you don't play for even longer, your house will have bugs in it? Or how in Pokemon, if you login at night, it will be night time? There's even a pokemon you can only get on Fridays.

That's not hard to do using the internal clock.

But it was done on the PS3, so by default it has to be better... Whether or not this can be accomplished on another system is irrelevant.

Fishy joe is getting in my nerves lately, it looks to me he is drunk. Im not talking about an internal clock, its were everything ages.

I can't argue with fanboy logic.

keep it up.

This stuff about things aging can only be provided by Bluray is BS.

The issue with such problems is storing the data about what happens, such as the player chopping down an entire forest only to come ack a while later and find tons of saplings. In this case, an HD would likely be the only thing that has the space to do this, but it wouldn't require the game to be on Bluray since even a CD (or N64 cart ;)) would be enough space for a game to do this.

Lets not talk about this anymore.

Isn't there a rumor going around that the Editor in Chief of the magazine is now under pressure because of those reviews and may be replaced?

Believe it or not, that was ANOTHER Playstation Magazine:

PSM gave Lair a 5 and Warhawk a 6.5, and the editor got fired.

OPM UK gave Lair a 6 and Heavenly Sword a 7.

So the lesson here is Playstation Magazines are biased against Playstation games.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

1. Devs can grab in game assets for cut scence and touch them up a little, then play them back in HD while the game loads in the background.
2. Having all of the extra room allows for the devs to have a larger varity of textures making game worlds more varied.
3. Their is plenty of room for uncompressed 7.1 sourround sound. (both HS and Lair do this, and if you have ever heard compressed vs uncompressed sorround, then you would much appricate the differance)
4. A developer never has to wonder if they can fit their vision on the disk, because their is always going to be planty of room.
5. Less processing power is being used to uncompress data and more is placed on making the game play and feel better.
6. Data can be streamed in HD off the disk allowing devs to create larger levels, with more epic feel.
7. Extra content can be thrown on the disk to show how the game use built all the way up to a hole movie.
Their are tons of advantages to developing on Blu-ray, and as the generation pushes forward the devs will get more and more space. By 2010 we will have games in 3d running on 100GB BD disks at 1080p, and their will only be one place to find it, and that will be on the PS3.

Every post from you is gold.

1. What?

2. Larger textures aren't an issue, unless Bluray magically makes the PS3 have more RAM.

3. True, but few people have a sound system that can actually take advantage of this.

4. Too bad they have to worry about the small install base and if their 20mil game will break even. j/k

5. Uncompression occures when the game is loading data, not when its playing. In fact, compressing is an advantage even on Bluray because it reduces load time.

6. Whats the difference between "HD" data and normal data? And I could've sworn GTA did this on the lowly PS2

7. Yeah, you can have lots of extras on one disc instead of two. However, you're on crack if you think games will be on 100gb disc - the PS3 was designed to handle only dual layer, and no firmware update can change this. Oh, and you don't need 100gb to have a "game running in 3d" - look up polygons.

 1. HD Mpegs can be streamed while the game loads in the bacground = no loads.

2. I did not say large textures I said more. That way games can change envionments more throughout the story. This will help a lot in FFXIII.

3. At least we agree here.

4. I agree Sony needs more systems to be picked up.

5. True but if you are streaming then you have to uncompress the data as it comes in.

6. That was HD textures, they could not stream 1080p.

7. Extra content is a given I guess we both kinda agree their.

Actually the PS3 is very capable of playing back 100GB Blu-rays. When I said 3D I ment actually being 3D as in come off the screen. I will get the link, but I got to get back to work.

as to the cut down the forest and come back with saplings growing..that would take MAYBE 256k of ram to track- if that. a gamecube,ps2,xbox could easily track that sort of thing. in the character save data - take 3 maybe 4 fields of a database entry and some comparisons in software-

entry 1 is forest cut down- y n- if y display instead of tree, if no, keep tree
entry 2 if y then how long has time gone by in game- stumps texture change for aging
entry 3 if longer than 2 months in game- put random 1-100 saplings - increase moss on stumps

as to the reviews- every review is an opinion. thus what 1 person things is a golden brick, is another person's cow dung....however if alot of reviewers say its a golden brick, chances are it is,,,,as is the chance that cow dung...is exactly that

The ps3 has 512mb ram just separeted. Just wanted to point that out.

Also, heavenly swords lowest score came from ign, and this magazine. Theother 5 or 6 reviews from magazines including gameinformer gave it at lowest an 8. At highest a 10.

9 Reviewers Gave it Below 8.5 (8.5 is not a AAA game, a AAA game is 9.0 to 10.0) and 3 reviewers gave it above an 87. It is not a AAA game no matter how much you twist it.
