Several things must be said

God of War is not a game for everyone. I certainly have no interest in the franchise. I like my games to provide me with many hours of entertainment, have a well written plot, be good to play with friends and challenge both my brain and my gaming abilities. I am sure it is a good game within its genre, but it is not a universally loved genre. Understanding this will help you understand my later points.

I agree that god of war isn't a game for everyone, but GoW contains many of the qualities you look for in a game. It has a very well written plot, with the amount of unlockables you can have many hours of gameplay in GoW. It's not a game that you can play with your friends because it's obviously only 1 player, but it definitely challenges your gaming ability (especially in God mode, and the challenges of the Gods/Titans) and God of War is known for having many different puzzles in the game that can be challenging to figure out.

So I don't really understand why you don't like the game if it meets pretty well all your qualities for a good game?

@Michael-Moore, I think the sales for God of War II is incomplete, I heard it passed GoW I,  but I could be wrong.

I would consider a game long if I am likely to play it for 100 hours or more, medium length 50 hours or more, 25-50 hours is a short game and if I'm not going to end up playing it for 25 hours into it I won't buy it. Where does GoW fit into that, if I go for 100% completion?

I'll agree it challenges my gaming ability, so that is a plus for it. The puzzles however are not very difficult, and seem uninspired compared to something like Zelda

The story is enough reason for me to play GoW3. The end of GoW2 really left me stunned in a way a game hasn't before. Some of the puzzles are challenging and I think higher difficultys make the puzzles harder. The gameplay evolves with different spells and levels offer variety like fighting on gryphons that keep the gameplay fresh. It's a really well made series imo.

GOW games have NEVER sold fantastic numbers

no god of war has never done over 3 million in sales

please, PLEASE

do not expect big sales from GOW 3

ORLY?

God of War II could have exceeded that number, had it not been released in 2007, after the 360, PS3 and Wii had finished launching in all three territories. Besides, I don't trust those Others numbers, no weekly sales.

I say God of War III can easily cross 3 million sales, and has a shot at 4 million.

As for God of War: Chains of Olympus...sigh. The PSP does not sell software. And Chains of Olympus was quite a sad attempt at capturing God of War, but it can be forgiven for having to deal with the PSP's power (or lack thereof). I still think it's a great game, though, even if it has "pop-in" and "the story is unimportant".

@Cheat1011
Damn that's one vivid scene lol

GOW series doesn't sell much because

1. It's not a FPS or Mario
2. It's rated M
3. Too bloody for kids
4. Too sexual for kids

With limited targeting audience, you can't expect it to sell like the E rated games.

i am scared

It Don't need to sell 30kazzilion copies for me to be satisfied as long as this game delivers just like the first 2 I DON'T GIVE A DANG IF IT ONLY SELLS 2m

For me (and me alone?), God of War 1's major selling point were the promise of naked boobs and awesome graphics. I was interested, but it still took me about a year to finally play it. It was okay, but definitely not a 10/10 game. It was actually a little boring. I traded it with my cousin for a pair of sunglasses! I never felt the need to play God of War 2.

I'm definitely buying God of War 3 (the promise of naked HD boobs and awesome graphics?), but I don't think it's going to be that amazing
