Ok so I finally got my hands on Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop, now by no means am I going to sing the praises of this game, but it shouldn't get bashed as much as it does.
It does seem rather rushed and cuts a few corners, but the fun parts of Dead Rising on 360 is still there, and on top of that you've got a few improvements like Otis not badgering you, an arrow to help you find your way around, and the RE4 controls are just a few nice improvements.
The game does lack the photography parts, of which I wasn't fond of on the original Dead Rising, and now leveling is done by the carnage of killing zombies much like I expected of the original.
The graphics aren't going to wow you like RE4, but I do think it's a little unfair to compare the two games just because they use the same engine, on one hand you have RE4 a game with rather restricted spaces, a lot of up close and personal fights with fewer zombies, a lot of grit, and had a full development cycle, which allows for everything to be optimized and looking smooth.
The other hand you have a clean looking mall, open areas, lots of zombies, and a short development cycle and probably given to one of their smaller teams to make, and for what it's worth it carries the feel of the original just there obviously could have been more, but my point is to put it in perspective before you go a blast it for not looking as good as RE4, to me the original Dead Rising didn't stun me visually like RE4 did and still does, RE4 is just one of those games that will stand the test of time and 10 years down the road you can go back to it and still love how it looks and plays.
Really it's not amazing, which the original wasn't either, but it's a nice 20 dollar game that you could have fun with, at 40 it's not bad just cause there's a lot worse you could spend your money on (or you could buy Okami for 20 now just a suggestion :P)
