Forums - General - The Watchmen Movie is Terrible

What the hell, did you really hated it that much?
I thought it was the best it could've been. You simply can't ask for a better transition, taking into account the size of the novel.

I wouldn't go as far as terrible, but its not a great movie.

Its fairly entertaining but its not evolutionary at all. Seems like a lame attempt to get in on the superhero movie phase thats going around (dark knight, spiderman, incredible hulk, etc).

The best part of the movie is the sex scene with the very attractive Malin Akerman.

Overall I give it a 6.5/10

Also, way too much blue dong.

hahaha too true, brotha! Why didn't he put some underwear on like come on?

Also I forgot to mention, whats with the comedian guy? What an asshole. He actually kills an innocent pregnant vietnamese girl? Like yeah she slashed him with the broken glass but come on. Did they need to show that? And also the scene where he tries to rape the girl, did he really have to punch her so many times? This guy needs to stop picking on women and fight someone his size and gender.

coolestguyever I'm going to guess you never read the source material, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But if I'm right you might wanna read it: it's really, really good. Fans have been clamoring for an adaptation of it for years. This is not just trying to jump on the bandwagon of other superhero movies.

@scottie: I enjoyed 300 for what it was: mindless, gory, and with no higher pretensions than "FREEDOM! HELL YEAH!" to its name. It was brutal, stupid, and brutally stupid, but it was honest.

@Johann: I agree that it could not reasonably have been any better. My fiance disagrees on this point, but the point I hold to is that the narrative of Watchmen is so sprawling and paced so specifically for a gaphic novel that, when put to the screen, it become an indecipherable mess.

Well I thought it was pretty good, I never read the comics or even knew anything about any of the super heros before I watched it (except John) and yet I thought it was a very good movie.

I'd recommend it.

This is also a valid position to take and I'm glad you enjoyed it. There are definitely elements in it that will appeal to certain audiences!

Did it make you interested in reading the graphic novel (there's only one volume), and learning more about all the characters?

I played the PS3 demo, which then made me realize I have no interest in the movie.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well I don't know about a graphic novel I was never really was in to them, but if they made another movie I'd definitely watch it. Actually I might of watched the cartoon...is there a cartoon series about these super heros on tv now?

SPOILER

Damn that suck how Rorschach died he was my favorite person in the movie

awwww man...i just ordered tickets for tomorrow...and I really liked the story and the novel...

Ehh what the hell, I'm usually the optimistic type so I am going to prolly love the movie. What is going to be hellish though is the fact that my pessimistic, whining cousin is prolly not going to stop yammering his mouth the whole ride home...and what is worse is that he DID read the book, so he is just gonna go on and on about how this and that wasn't good...

Why o why did I invite him?

Explanation of sig:

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

Khuutra, I only found one problem with the whole movie: the structure of the narrative. The novel had a very distinctive one, the movie was kind of too straightfoward.
