I liked the FFIX final battle against Necron....simply cause it was more like a 'wtf?' ...comes out at the very end and was never mentioned at all like Square just wanted to add a last minute final boss lol

That's why I HATED FF9 though. It made no sense; I haven't played any other game that's ever done that (and for that I'm glad). It was alright up to that point. The only reason I can see someone liking FF9 (if they finished it at least) is blind love for the FF series. Most other franchises/series would not be able to get away with it.
As for favorite last boss fight, I don't know,
"uuummmm, This a hard rarely do final boss battles live up to being epic in RPG's, usually just easy..."
I kind of agree, they're usually kind of underwhelming. I love my RPGs, but I can't think of any awesome, memorable last boss fights. The story is usually the epic part if anything.
i havent played many.. but during the last battle of Eternal Sonata i was like "Nooooooo i dont wanna do this
"
shame it was relatively easy, then.
Ultimecia in Final Fantasy VIII is the most epic of all. Four bosses in one! Music is fantastic too. OMG! When i remember that in the fourth battle you are floating in deep space! Awesome! Kefka's battle is superb too. But, for me, Square outdid themselves in Final Fantasy VIII last battle.
Ps: Well, at the same time the last battle could have the impact (not the epicness) reduced if Squall has the Lion Heart move : the most unbalanced move of all final fantasies. So damn ultimate move! :)

Thats what i loved about FF9 cause that was so unexpected and like Square just gave more fun boss gameplay. I thought the boss before it (forgot that guy's name) was pretty easy so i wanted more and..surprise i got more lol.
I love FF9 not cause im blind love for the series but because i really did enjoy the game. The story, the battle system, levelling up, the way you learn stuff, get summons etc.
Very cool how Alexandria was your castle all along and beautiful with the angel wings. Best of all its fun playing with 2 players. Sure only one of you does the actual moving but you can choose which characters you want player 1 & 2 to control. My bro and i split the character control 50/50..sometimes we kill eachother for fun lol but how often can you share a turn-based RPG experience with someone? hardly any.
