Gamasutra has learned that Naughty Dog alumnus and original Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator/level designer Hirokazu Yasuhara is working on a new Pac-Man title at the company's U.S. studio for the game's 30th anniversary in 2010.

"We are in the midst of making Pac-Man come back because his 30th anniversary is in 2010 actually," said Iwai. "As a group, we feel like we should do something to make him come back. So, there's one project that we started working on, and [Yasuhara is] part of it."

30th anniversary?  man, i'm old.  I remember when Pac-Man first hit the scene.

Should be interesting. Then again, Pac-man hasn't been translated well in 3D yet.

I hope this ends up being more along the line of Pac-Man Championship Edition on XBL than another failed attempt at 3D platforming.

i hope the game is similar to pac man world 2. that was a fun platformer, enjoyed it as much as the mario one

i think they should leave pac man alone hes 30 years old now lets move on

Pac-Man doesn't get the recognition he deserves from younger generations of gamers.

They need to make a new great game with him.
