Failed consoles??? Sir, we're talking a very hefty list here.... :S

@arsenicazure

Don't forget Dragon Force, Fighters Megamix, Guardian Heroes, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun, Virtual-On, Saturn Bomberman, Shinobi Legions, Shining Force 3, Shining Wisdom and Shining the Holy Ark. It's too bad the Saturn failed so badly, it had my favorite games out of the 5th generation consoles.

OMG guardian heroes was brilliant... why dont we ever get such games released on PSN or LIVE...

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

No mention of 3DO, Atari Jaguar, CD-i, ect... this list isn't too complete.   Also, this list fails if it puts Saturn above the ones I mentioned.

Not really. The Saturn cost SEGA a lot more money than any of those systems cost their manufacturers.

Damn I like the love the Saturn is getting in this thread; I loved my PS1 and N64 but regret the most, selling my Saturn from that gen.

Considering 3DO and Atari wanted to release another system but were forced into just being software developers it cost the companies heavy.  Philips are they even in business anymore?

There are still major differences, though.

3DO was never doing that well in the first place. The system was their very first attempt at anything, so it's not like the failure forced them down from their place as a legend - it's their failure that made them a legend.

The Atari Jaguar was to Atari what the Dreamcast was to SEGA - their failure after a mess of other failures. The Jaguar wasn't what ruined Atari; it was their whole mess of mistakes before the Jaguar. It's just that the Jaguar finally finished 'em off.

Philips never was big on videogames anyhow, and yes, they're in business still. They're huge in electronics. In fact, they're one of the biggest electronics companies in the world, and they're on the Blu-Ray Disc Association as a board member, with an equal stake in Blu-Ray as Sony.

i disagree.. the jaguar was... and will remain a peice of crap.. the price, the insane design of the controller, the lack of quality software. The dreamcast was well designed, compact, top of the line graphics for its time, and a very very friendly launch price tag ($199)- and it had much better software in its 16 month NA lifetime than PS2 did in its first 3 yrs. the dreamcast didnt finish off sega- consumers did.. we burned fakes games, and we spent our money on PS2's.. the dreamcast was a very very solid attempt on sega's part.
