Gears 2 is my least favourite of the 3 but it's not even the same genre. The other two, I probably like equally right now.

By Personal opinions? Then everyone is right.

By popular vote on VGchartz, I'd guess KZ2.

Critically, right now according to Metacritic and Gamerankings it goes Halo 3, Gears 2, Killzone 2.

Sales also goes Halo 3, Gears 2, Killzone.

Any other way to look at it? Not sure. I love Halo, but play Gears 2 more often (and don't have a PS3) so likely my opinion is just as biased as many others on this site will (and have) been.

If you woke up next to either:

A: A Helgan soldier.
B: The Master-chief.
C: Marcus Fenix.

Which would make you happier?

I think the choice for me is obvious, but its all personal taste here!

Gears 1 FTW!!! i really dont like gears 2 so out of those 3 halo 3 would be the best followed by KZ2

Killzone 2.

Nothing else compares.

For me, Its Killzone 2.

Shouldn't you go with all protagonists, or swap up to all enemies. So use berserkers and... brutes(or hunters, depends on how you like it) as replacements.

Its all based on the Box art. Because we know its proper to judge a game by its cover.
