Forums - Gaming - Halo; a difference of opinion

Fagarcia, this honestly goes for all games.

If everyone loved the exact same games, we'd have 100+ million sellers out there and we don't.

Very good point.

I have an Xbox, have played Halo1(single player) and didn't like it. I've played and liked some FPS on PC; SS2, NOLF, UT etc but not really hard-core.

They must be doing something right though if millions buy it, but it's not for me.

I actually quite enjoyed Halo 1/2 Single player/Co-Op campaigns, and split screen multiplayer.

The 15 minutes I spent online was complete and total meh though.

If I get a chance to sit down and play through the campaign, I'll play it. If I don't, I won't be weeping. Well, maybe. Who knows.

I had the first Halo but never completed it because I just wasn't having fun playing it. There was always a large LAN Halo tourney going on in the barracks and I played once a month but that is it.

I played Halo 2 extensively. But then a dark hatred of the game grew in me.

So I sold my copy to Gamestop, and now won't be getting it's sequel. :D

FPS just isn't my thing for the most part, though I really like Half Life 2.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well it's a FPS, and a lot of people don't care for those games. I mean I personally love almost all kinds of games, but just can't stand sports games, driving games, or jRPGs. The industry kind of depends on different people liking different games. =P

Like shooters, but don't like Halo?
Looks like you prefer your shootershooters to be mouse+keyboard, but still like first person games with focus on other stuff than shooting like Metroid Prime. It's easy for us "hardcore" gamers to forget, but dual analog control is actually very hard to get used to, and still far from optimal for any kind of game.

There are tons of Xbox owners (like myself) that never touched halo. I've played H1/2 all of 4 times in my life. It's just like every other FPS to me, so I could care less.

I mean, Halo is an exceptional shooter in tems of the goodness of SP and MP, but I prefer TPS far over FPS. And then, I greatly prefer Strategy and RPGs over FPS/TPS anyways so...

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I mentioned this in the last similar thread - some of us are game snobs... We're prejudice against mainstream games.

I own Halo 1 (which i'll admit, i bought because of everyone saying it was a fantastic game - that was before i learnt the term 'opinion'), and have played Halo 2, and can say that i don't dislike the game, but i also don't like it.. It's just more of the same for me, even if it isn't for others, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely is the reason why i could live with or without halo 3 (and i probably will be doing the latter at this stage)
