Forums - Sales - Speculation on the future of Wii sales and the "casual" game market.

Shrug, I recall an angry old gamer trying to play games with his presumably angier and much old father, comming back (I was visiting his son) and yelling at me that Nintendo knows "what the fuck they are doing. It makes so much more fucking sense that pressing that fucking x button". Yes, that is a quote. But it shows an interesting Demographic, as angry old gamer guy plays a lot of RPG's and such, and that's he's still quite interested in the Wii.

The Wii hasn't even hit mass market price yet, which is 199$. I've been looking into Wii hardware and software sales alot, and I really don't think that the casuals are buying it at the level most people seem to think. This is the exact reason I predicted PS3 Madden to out sale Wii madden. The Wii's install base isn't even close to being as casual as most people think. This is why I think Nintendo is taking over the market rather than expanding it. People are really overrating the Wii.

I doubt your going to get responses from actual casuals posting here. This is a VIDEO GAME website after all, only the obsessive gamer is likely to post here.

First, the casual audience is the industrys core audience. And the non-gamer, is the audience that is keeping the PS2 outselling PS3 and 360. They buy cheap PS2:s for EA:s sport series (Madden, NHL, F1, FIFA, etc.), Buzz, Singstar, Eyetoy and DDR. They are not the ones that buy expensive Wiis for Wii Sports, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil or Paper Mario. They want 150 Wii, Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Boogie.

So, i think this far, Wii haven't been caught by non-gamers. There are more games for traditional and casual gamers. It eventually will, when price drops and Wii Fit and boogie start to get more familiar among the mass.

Casual crowd is something you don't have to be worried about, they have adopted Wii and continue to do so. The traditional gamer also seems to like the Wii, so i don't see any reason, why Wii sales would drop.
