Interesting theory. What do you think about people who make threads about third party failures on the Wii and suggest that third parties generally should make their games elsewhere, because there's a single example of a game that didn't do well?
My view is simple.
At the time most of you purchase the Wii, were there many third party titles announced or in the work for the Wii?  Answer I would wager is nope.
So why exactly are you surprised those titles are not there?
Buying a product in the hope that in the future it will get stuff it doesn't have now, even if that stuff seems to be common sense is never a good idea...
And if that is not the underlying issue, why do we have to get a few new threads every week criticizing Wii third party support?
And if I am wrong and people are generally happy with third party Wii support, why so many threads criticizing third parties?

First off, I don't think this answered his question at all.

Second, the bolded part:  When did you buy your PS3?  Would you still have bought it even if you knew for a fact that it would never get another game, ever, beyond what was already released?  Not to mention Blu-ray movies.

When I bought my PS3( November 2007), MGS4, GTA4, FFXIII, GT5, Gow3, Re5, DMC4, CoD4 were already announced and in the work.( I didn't buy it in 2006 because I wanted to wait a sufficient library had been released to keep me busy and I wanted to see how things shaped out)

I knew all the sport titles would be supported in the following years too ( because they had been released once already) and by the end of 2007 most of the third parties had released or announced a PS3 title ( I already knew I was screwed for Mass Effect, thought I was too for Bioshock, turned out I wasn't).

Sony and some third parties have actually made a decent job of laying out a roadmap  for future releases ( the only critic would be that in some cases the titles actually are taking quite a bit of time to come out)

PS : I was hoping I would be getting titles like SO4 and DQX, turn out I am not ( probably could have known if I had researched DQX), but that's part of the game and I am not complaining about it and screaming for SE to go down in flames or to change their business strategy...

None of those count -- they might have gotten canceled, even if common sense suggests otherwise; that was your rule, wasn't it?  Also, there was no assurance that they would be GOOD.  Were you looking forward to Haze and Timeshift as well?

Anyway, are you really suggesting that we're not allowed to criticize anything that wasn't promised?  If Sony never cuts the price on the PS3 ever again, no one can criticize Sony for that if no price cut was announced?

Ail, why don't you answer my question?

Those threads are about as stupid as the one criticizing lack of Third party support on the Wii,

Typically from what I have seen there is a viscious circles where the people complaining about Wii lack of Third party support and those saying Third Party titles fail on the Wii keep feeding each others into a screaming contest...

Not being a Wii owner I would tend to say that if noone complained about what third parties are doing on the Wii, noone would answer saying there are no titles because the titles do not work ( I'm quoting, not saying it's what I think).

That is however subjective...

1) I purchased Haze and played it over 40 hours , mostly multiplayer. ( not the best game but at the time there were not that many FPS if you did not own CoD4 and it did keep me busy and yes the MP really wasn't bad, the campaign was the bad part).

2) Whether the PS3 gets a price cut or not leaves me totally indifferent as I already own one and I'm not about to start collecting them

Well, that's nice, and I'm glad you enjoyed your purchase, but you didn't actually answer either point. (Other than the third, side point that apparently distracted you, and I'm sorry for that.)

If those threads are about as stupid as the ones criticizing lack of good third party support, could that mean that someone who starts a thread about a failure on the Wii to conclude that this might be the reason why third parties' best efforts won't come to the Wii... could this mean that said person isn't happy with his console?

Did said person complain to anything related to his console in said thread ?

Answer : Nope

There is only one thing that angers me this gen to the point that I will rant like a mad lunatic...

WTF is up with most retailers deciding to display games behind low glass cases that are not even illuminated ????
I am 6'5, I have to get on my knees to see what frigging game Best Buy or Target have for sale and even then I can't see half the titles/prices because there isn't any light inside the stupid case....( and who is the idiot at my local Best Buy that decided to stock only 2 copies of Empire Total War and to hide them in the bottom row among titles that have been in stock for 3 years ???)

My point is that No more Heroes, Deadly Creatures and Cod appeal to a type of demo that is not quite the type of the wii owners  like. I said Cod exactly because it did better in both Hd consoles than it did on Wii, despite the userbase. A multiplat NMH could have way more 1mln copies rigth now. Some for a HD Deadly Creatures. The thing is that going exclusive Wii on a mature title is least profitable than going multiplat on the three or on the Hd only.

WaW- Wii  was actually a good Idea. It sold almost 1mln more copies, but imagine if they decided launching it on the Wii only, because it has a bigger user base. 1mln copies instead of almost 10mln across all plataforms. And that´s my point. At this point of the gen, launching on Wii only is just bad business, even if it has a little profit given the low costs. Going multiplat on the hd, that actually has a comparable userbase, or multiplat on every plat is better. Given the numbers.

BTW, when I said I would buy Dc, it was only a comment. It called my attention, but it wasn´t suppose to be a point by itself.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future......NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Well, I guess that's one way to prevent fading...

Best Buys and Targets in my area don't do that though; they use tall (lighted IIRC) enclosures although they do go all the way to the floor of course. Mostly the type of thing you describe would be more expected at small, possibly independent stores.

Need to send the manager of my local Best Buy ( and all the team in charge of the gaming department) to your Best Buy then.

They have a lot to learn !!!!!!!!!

Seriously someone with half a brain would put the consoles at the bottom and then the games above and keep a console more easilly accessible for those that want a look at the Box...
