Well, first let me say that I went back in the thread and did not in fact find a "PC detailed above".  Unless I'm somehow blind, I must have been thinking of another thread, which may not be the type of setup you had in mind. 

But Zen's $400 PC had ""on board" shitty graphics card, and 250 watt nothing powersupply".  I think you may be being too optimistic about on-board graphics two years from now. 

Also, there's a big difference between $300 and $400.  $400 is a budget PC, but $300 is starting to really scrape the bottom of the barrel AFAIK.

@Final-Fan, I can price out a ~$500 PC at Newegg that will absolutely run Crysis at 1900X1200 with max settings (no case or PSU included). So I have no doubt in my mind that you will be able to buy a $300 PC in the next 12 months that will absolutely destroy Crysis at max.

But see, my point is that there's a base price below which the performance you can buy drops dramatically. So cutting out the case, PSU, OS or whatever makes a HUGE difference to the argument.

I'm guessing you don't understand the difference between "full quotes" and 'half quotes'.  Full quotes is what would be used to literally quote you.  Half quotes, to my knowledge, are used for "quotations 'within' quotations", and also to show paraphrasing, which is what I was doing:  paraphrasing what you said.  I believe I was entirely accurate in summing up what you said:

"I guess you don't understand that inter-core bandwidth IS real world.  The theoretical inter-core bandwidth is over 200GB/s." 

So, I condensed the first sentence down to "It IS real world", where "it" referred to inter-core bandwidth.  Since there's nothing else somebody might reasonably think "it" meant (or is there?  please tell me) then I stand by my position that this was a completely accurate paraphrasing of the first sentence. 

Your second sentence looked (and looks) to me like a continuation of what you are talking about in the first one.  If that is indeed the case then you are using a theoretical statistic to support the position that something has real-world performance.  I found (and find) this idea hilarious.  In any case, I substituted "just look at these theoretical numbers" for your actual example of said theoretical numbers.  I stand by my position that this was a completely reasonable substitution in order to accurately paraphrase your position for satirical purposes. 

Or, to sum up, I didn't lie.  I didn't misquote you -- and I did not, in fact, quote you at all, as such.  Nobody trusts me less because of that post.  And we aren't the sad ones. 

 

I'm dissapointed that you went to all the trouble to explain what should have been obvious to him =P

 

As a result I can no longer trust what you say ANYMORE!!!!!  That of course has nothing to do with what you post though =P

Proof of Killzone 2 the technical king of FPSs.

Killzone 2 Mod using the Cryengine2

Notice that NOTHING is going on in the distance (lack KZ2 had ships flying with smoke trails, etc). 

Notice the low poly gun model.

Notice the lack of cloth physics.

Notice less smoke columns in the scene.

Notice no dynamic light sources for enemy eyes (they are static lights...see no objects on enemy reflecting the light [1:14]).

Notice the lack of hit response animations.

Notice the lacking gun animations.

Notice the lacking physics based death animations.

Notice the lack of particle physics from bullet collisions (sparks bouncing off of the ground, etc).

Notice the lack of a physics based weather system effecting particles and cloth.

Notice the much less sophisticated A.I.

 

Now, that video was in pre-alpha phase.  Killzone 2 had ALL those things, mentioned above, implemented in pre-alpha phase except the weather physics system.

BTW, I, also, doubt you will see 350 dynamic lights from the Cryengine 2. ;)

Last time I checked that intro movie was not prealpha. Do you even know what pre-alpha means? Pre-Alpha for KZ2 would have been that video that they just now admitted was pre-rendered.
