An example from more recent times. Seemingly trying as hard as they can to have great jrpgs on the 360 and releasing several games in that genre in 2008, none of the 360's jrpgs really turned out to be anything better than very average. Meanwhile in its eighth year after having several years almost as good as in 2001 when the PS2 had a year of quality games that the 360 probably won't be able to match in its entire lifetime, and when the 360 was trying so hard and failing to have one good jrpg, Persona 3 FES and then Persona 4 effortlessly give the PS2 the best jrpgs of the year and become excellent examples of the genre that rank right up there with greatest jrpgs ever released. imo, a better question would be will the 360 ever have one year that can compare favorably to just one of the PS2's best years, and as I believe we are late in this gen at least for the 360, i highly doubt it.

It's either arrogance or stupidity to claim that any current console has a library to match the PS2's.

I laugh at anyone who would compare them by what it's like to play the PS2 games now, too. Era by era; you wouldn't judge Pele against Ronaldinho in the 21st century game.

More than half the games that came out last gen were PS2 exclusive the 360 is not even close to those numbers.

@khuutra So far the 360 has zero games that are as artistic as Atelier Iris Eternal Mana, Growlancer Generations, or even the latest Ar Tonelico game on PS2, and these aren't even widely regarded as the creme de la creme of the PS2. Trying to compare the 360 to the PS2 on artistic grounds is like trying to compare Adam Sandler the 360 to Charlie Chaplin the PS2.

First of all, that wasn't the point I was making. My point is primarily that you can compare art pieces that are part of the same genre even if they're separated by time.

Secondly.... Adam Sandler and Charlie Chaplin? Really? Really?

TBH I found the frame-rate on a lot of those 'classics' to be so low that it made playing the game barely tolerable. For that reason I give a leg up for many of the Xbox 360 games in this comparison because you're playing the game and not fighting the controller.

BTW PS1 > PS2 > PS3

The PC will always have my favourite games of all times.

The Xbox 360 > Xbox 1.

Surely this doesn't mean what it sounds like!  Squilliam, can you truthfully tell me you did not mean that we should count games from the old Xbox as being in the 360's library?

Squillam, I know its hard for you 360 boys to get your head around the fact that the 360 in the grand history of gaming isn't that grand heck, it's not even up to snuff with Supergrafx and Saturn let alone the PS2.
