Forums - Microsoft - People are actually buying Halo Wars not knowing that it's a RTS

Well there's your problem! A Mother buying her Child a Teen Rated Game! A Bit off-topic yes, but yeah. Bugs me none-the-less.

As for buying Halo Wars thinking it's a first person shooter. It's really up for the consumer to know what product they are buying. Honestly, is it so hard to find out things? Last I checked, there was something called the "Eee-Ter-Net" or something like that which allows users to get a tonne of infomation. Heck, if they don't have a connection? Look up a flyer, Call your local Gamestore, Ask a friend, do some research!

It's not that hard, even by looking at ONE screenshot. One can conclude that Halo Wars it NOT a RTS. There is no excuse for being that lazy.

umm... it is a RTS, so wouldn't that mean that everyone is going to be consfused and think it is a FPS

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Can't they simply return it. I find this strange as x360 owners are usually (or like to think they are) hardcore and should be aware of it being a RTS.

If it was a wii game with a massive "casual" base then it would make more sense.

Console with $200 entry level SKU is far from being hardcore gamer only.

Was it not originaly marketed as a hardcore console? Forgive me if I'm wrong but that's the impression I got.

*self-facepalm* Sorry, typo. I'm not gonna edit it to fix it, just know that I meant FPS. So in other words.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

... Transformers on the psp. Huuuge fucking waste of money. I was expecting a weak looking version of the console versions and instead i got a piece of shit i spent like 20 minutes on before never playing it again.

Check out my game about moles ^

Reminds me of the folks who bought the cheaper 40gb PS3s, assuming they would play PS2 games.

OT: It's her own fault. If I spend more than $20 on a game, I'm doing some research.

There's an even easier way to tell what it is if you somehow don't have access to the internet: THE BACK OF THE BOX! Regardless of what the cover looks like to draw you in, the back of the box usually provides SOME details and screenshots of what you should expect from the game.

Oh.... My... GOD!! It's almost as if the publisher and box-art artists want you to KNOW what kind of game you're buying. It's some kinda miracle of modern technology!

Although this example of a mother buying it for their child is a bit different, since the child obviously just said "Go buy me Halo Wars, I'm too young for T-Rated games and your a mother who doesn't care enough to research for 15 minutes about ESRB (I've given lectures about ESRB that's shorter than 15 minutes)." So the mother just went off and bought it.

So yeah.
