Forums - Website Topics - Enough with the ads.

Seriously, you get the same stupid Gillette champions ad with EVERY page you visit. I've seen that same ad about 50 times today... and all I'm gonna do is just hit "skip ad" but its still annoying. What gets me is the frequency of it. You open a post to read, ad pops up, you go to the next page, ad pops up, you go to the third page, ad pops up, etc. etc.

It's too much.

Try following IGN's method. Sure you get the ads but only say.... every 1 out of 10 times you click a link. Not EVERY SINGLE TIME.

edit: yes I realize there is also Magic the Gathering and House of the Dead ads in the circulation.  It's still way to frequent and annoying.

if its really that much of a problem you could disable javascript on websites that bug you about that - works for me at least.

keep in mind that some sites require it, i.e. i dont know if it would mess with IGN's slider thingy for displaying articles and the such.

um..stuff

ads pay for the site. Without ads, there would be no money for things like bandwidth and server repairs.

It is, however, a problem when my browser runs slower on this site than any other. Probably because of all the Flash ads.

Seriously, some ad just made my computer stall and crash Pandora. After this post I am signing off. I shouldn't be having any problems with a AMD 6400+ w/ 8800 gts computer.

Well dont expect them to offer their services for free. Ads brings the chartz money to feed us gamers the info. Ign is a huge gaming site while the Vgchartz is still growing give them time to improve. And also maybe its just me I dont get ads on every page I open.

That is all

Depending on what browser I'm using this site makes my browser freeze up more than any other site ever.

I realize ads pay for the site but look at the amount of ads present without the pop-in ads I'm talking about. Plus these pop-ins have just started showing up in the last couple days. Are you telling me the site can no longer pay for itself unless they add even more types of different ads?

I'm not arguing ads are not important. I'm just saying throwing in a pop-in on EVERY single link you click is too much. Never in 10 years of the Internet have I seen this much advertising thrown up in your face wheter you want it or not.

yea, i have firefox, and i don't recall ever having an ad pop up on this site

Not pop up, pop ins. Ads that take you off the page your viewing to display an entirely new page with just the ad on it that says, click this link to skip the ad.

I'm using Firefox as well right now.

why dont you try clicking on them, you might like em
