Still, it highlights the fact that the NA market is important and the 360 happens to be the strongest there

What now? We are comparing remakes of ten year old games on a unpopular handheld that is known for not selling software to the newest entry in the new Star Ocean series?
That's a pretty bogus comparison.

I'm talking about a main title, not spin-offs, not remakes, etc., Star Ocean main titles went from small to large being Star Ocean: Till the End of Time a million seller (US: 740k, JP: 500k, EU: 90K, total 1.33 million), now, the 4th main title gets 60k US (1st week) and 185k Japan (2 weeks), i'll be surprised if this title gets to 500k worldwide, which is less than a half what SO3 sold...

So what? Both IU and TLR had openings worse and have gone onto sell nicely |
Are you really comparing both new IPs to an established franchise which is Star Ocean??? read what i said in my previous post...

Something that works against you?

Why is it that SO3 sold a million copies yet SO4 has trouble selling the same amount?
@Riachu
We discussed this in another thread, i even predicted that the game was going to get close to a million based on Japan: 250k, US: 700k, EU:40k, or something like that, but seeing this 1st week numbers, i guess that i was wrong...
Japan
SO3 sold 400k 1st week, 500k LTD
SO4 sold 160k 1st week, 25 2nd week
US
SO3 i don't know 1st week sales, but to get 630k in 2 years, and 740k LTD, it had to sell between 250k and 500k 1st week
SO4 sells 60k 1st week
The only one left is EU, the worst region for a SO game (SO3 sold 90k LTD) how much will do this one?
I'm not even saying my theory for this, because i've said it too many times before...
i'm willing to make a bet with you, if this game gets to be a million seller, i will change my sig to something that you choose for a month...
My point is that the ONLY weekly data we have for any US Star Ocean game are the PSP remakes. Of which, the 360 smoked them in first week sales. I understand that comparisons between PSP remakes on a 'failing' system (that somehow still managed to have the same amount of hardware sold in NA) isn't the greatest comparison, but it's the only one we have.
And looking at the numbers: The PSP remakes have had very strong legs. #1 debuted at a paltry 27k, and sold above 4,500 units every week of it's 10-week window, and already has a 5x multiplier, and is steadily rising. #2 has a 2x multiplier, and rising as well. I know it's a bad comparison, but what if SO4 has a 7-10x multiplier? What then?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well, PSP games seem to have low first weeks and then bottom out. Look at Jeanne d'arc. It's been selling 1-2k for a year!
why the psp is here?
hell monter hunters sold 3 million on it, crisis core 1.5+, and many game have sold 200,000 even in the PSP in japan first week.
way more than the 360.
but if you look in comparison japan, ps3 wkc sold 330k, in a few weeks sure it doens't look like everybody should go exclusive to it, but not exclusive to the 360.
especially in japan.
