Forums - Microsoft - What microsoft need to do to conquer Europe and Japan?

@Sardauk

That's not that different from what I said: the current parity is due to the headstart that let MS introduce the x360 as THE next gen console. So, yes, they've carved their place in the market. But the fact that they're still head to head means that they could not leave the PS into the dust... I wonder how many months it took the PS1 to bury the dominant brands at the time, but I will not be surprised if it was less than 14, even with the extreme brand loyalty Nintendo and Sega inspired.

It's pretty much all about image in Europe I believe. Japan on the other hand... Image, games, and being foreign. And say whatever you want, the whole box (the console itself, that is) looks pretty American to me. I don't know if I thought this way if I didn't actually know but I suppose most know MS if American anyway. Then again, I don't know if its looks actually matter in Japan.

Ummmmm since when did europe start hating all things American?

Didn't America save Europe from 2 world wars last century?

Not sure why they would be anti-american since Americans paid billions of dollars to rebuild their countries.

I was speaking about Japan. I guess I should have made it a seperate paragraph then. And shut up about those world wars; I don't care. The first one had pretty similar sides, the second one was created by the first. Besides, I don't care about the second world war either. Oh, and they're pretty old things, too.

And I do hate the USA. Well, less now than I did when Bush was the president but I still don't like the country. To tell the truth, though, I'm not sure if there's anything to be proud of with my own country either. But who cares.

Now let's get back on topic. This whole off-topic started with someone not understanding what I possibly put in an unclear way. What I just said is not important.

It´s time to Microsoft make her movies with exclusivity of racing games, soccer exclusive, maybe creating her own franchise of soccer, realese more game based in European culture and history and etc. I wan't to see the 360 at least 10 million ahead of ps3 in Europe alone at the end of generation and reach 2 million consoles in Japan.(unrealistic expecatives, I know...)

Microsoft's a female confirmed :D

Now adjust the sales allowing for each consoles time to market so far.  I guess that's what the OP is going on about - 360 has sold very well but hasn't crushed PS3 in Europe and hasn't even got close to PS3 in Japan.  Personally I think the 360 has done about as well as it could in Europe, although it has been helped (inadvertently) by Sony having the wrong price point for so long and not enough games.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I thought Europeans liked the 360.

The X360 is doing great in Japan. It has reached 50% of the PS3's sales on a weekly basis - you just can't expect better sales than that in the home country of Sony.

Europe is so and so. Thanks to early launch and price drops it's outselling the PS3, but it's still a great job by MS since many many Europeans really dislike America and hate MS.

I never expected MS could sell 55-60 million consoles in this gen, like the X360 will do.

i think it's brand name. Microsoft will be as known as play station next-gen.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

No, IMO the XBOX brand was not very popular (lacks of communication, marketing efforts and supremacy of the Playstation brand).

But things have changed... I met a lot of players who are questionning the situation of the Playstation (mostly because of its pricing and lack of content).
