The stories are fine. I can't imagine them being much better than a few choice entries in the series.

FF is mainly played for story and Zelda is usually played for gameplay. Zelda has deep stories in some of them but the depth is very subtle.
I ask of Zelda story-wise the same thing I ask of Tetris.
I think the next Zelda should have a more complex story in order for the series to stay fresh. But until now the stories are cliched but fine, with the exception of MM which was pretty damn good.

Yeah, most Zelda stories are good enough. However, MM told a truly deep and mature story dealing with themes already discussed in this topic. Isolation being one of them. We don't ask as much from Zelda stories as we do of Final Fantasy and MGS stories. Even so, I wouldn't mind a more complex story just as long as it enchances the experience instead of ruining it.

Yes. Yes there was. And one of the better Zelda storylines too. |

^ You mean this story? Please. I loved the game, but Zeldas have stories on par with Mario games. Peach is kidnapped for the umpteenth time. Mario to the rescueeeeeeeeee!!

You have to be trying to be that needlessly reductive. I find it impossible to believe that you actually think it's ever that simple. I mean, the plot, yes, but almsot all plots can be summarized that simply.
Even if I had hated the entire game, which I didn't, the last battle where you fight Ganondorf was absolutely memorable to me.
