Ive mainly seen it with games on Wii/DS. I dunno if theres a real reason behind it but I think it doesnt make any sense.

Examples - Fire Emblem:Shadow Dragon, My World, My Way, Disgae, Tenchu 4.

This happens a lot when games get differently named for different regions.
