Forums - Gaming - Midway layoffs, while execs getting nearly $4 millions bonuses?

^^ As a big Saturn guy me and Midway go waaaaaay back, so this kinda like when you find out an old friend has been cheating with your girlfriend. It hurts, but it needs to be over with.

this is the thing I don't like about the western business model and also why I think games not being profitable is due to executive plundering not the real cost of production. How does one get bonuses from a company posting losses? Isn't that proof of mismanagement? **sighs**

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

If this is how Midway treats their workers they can expect one less customer, assuming they survive. After hearing this I will never purchase a Midway game in the future.

I'd blame more those people than the company. So if the next guys turn out to be better if the company survives, would that work for you?

As an analyst said - THQ could be next. Eidos will be bought out. There go (most) of the small-sized publishers...

I'm sure the Deadly Creatures numbers aren't gonna help.

If your company didn't make money, nobody should get any bonuses. NOBODY!

I'm not a fan of Obama (although he's doing a good job so far), but I agree that rewarding failure is wrong.

And I remember when the late President of Sega put up his own money twice to help the company during the late 1990s.
