*no one here has stated anything that comes close to the worst controller. atari anyone?

as far as best: m&k for precision games (fps, rts), gc for smash bros, ds for everything else

*at time of original intent

Which Atari controller are you talking about?  The 2600 one was good, the 5200 not so much but still wouldn't be the worst (assuming yours works).

im just saying that atari had some pretty bad controllers compared to the ones people are complaining about.

Best: Gamecube, XBox 360
Worst: SIXAXIS, N64

Gamecube-- just an all around awesome controller. It was odd but accessing each button was super easy and natural. The only downside was that it didn't have four triggers.

XBox 360-- Huge improvement over the original Xbox controller because of the size alone. It does have the worst d-pad in the history of controllers but luckily not a lot of games need an accurate D-Pad anymore. The goods are the analog stick placement, weight, size, and the triggers are the best around.

SIXAXIS-- About the only good thing about this controller was the D-Pad. SIXAXIS tilt controler is nearly worthless, it feels like a cheap toy due to the weight, it has no rumble, and the triggers are terrible.

N64-- Interesting design but not at all comfortable or convenient.

I guess you didn't grow up with the PS1 and PS2 (basically the same controller), or maybe you should add the PS1/PS2 controller with the Sixaxis contoller.

best - dualshcok 3

worst - sega saturn/n64/dreamcast/xbox

I'll go with conventional, console controllers here..

BEST: Gamecube and 360 controller

WORST: N-64 and the Original Xbox Dinosaur controller

Uh, the Dual Shock and Dual Shock 2 did not have shitty tilt control, cheap lack of weight, actually had rumble, and didn't have triggers...all points that he addressed explicitly.

Reading comprehension fail.

Best: Xbox 360, Gamecube

Worst: Dreamcast, Original Xbox and Sixaxis.

Personally, I never found DS1 or 2 particularly uncomfortable, definitely didn't fit my hands perfectly, but Sixaxis (and I guess DS3) is a joke.

Why? L2 and R2 buttons. Had they extended the bottom of the controller to accomodate this new addition, we would have had a bigger controller that would have fit more comfortably in more peoples hands, instead we get a smaller controller (bottom surface area wise) so that less people will find it comfortable.

Note: There is a difference between acceptable and comfortable. For alot of people, it's the former that's true but they confuse it with the latter.

I like Nintendo's controllers because each one is so radically different, and they build games around these controllers. It's part of why I like the company so much, though it's something not a lot of people would appreciate.

I don't like the Dual Shocks very much because, while functional, Sony has never really tried to shake things up or make a controller that's better than what they have.

Best: DS2 (closerly but DS3), mainly due to it being...well good. The design has remained the same since their creation as I see no reason to change it. It has all the buttons you need and analog stick placement is fine.

Worst: Original X-box controller, the monster one, the one that had to have some kind of freakishly large hands to use.

Hmm, pie.
