I thought I gave a few good examples on why PS3 owners/fans would care.

If the PS3 was in last place, the PS3 might be discontinued (extremely unlikely), or the PS4 might be canceled.

If the PS3 was doing absolutely amazing, SCE might not be working their balls off as they are now, and being like Nintendo is.

If the PS3 was doing amazing, especially in the US, JRPG developers would be more reluctant on making their titles exclusive to the 360.

Finally I don't understand why fandom is seen as such a negative and illogical thing. Why do you support a sport team, especially if it is one that's outside of your state? Are you passionate when you watch the game/root the team?

Would your life end if that team ceased to exist? No.

Some people simply like to take part in/are attracted to a competitive atmosphere. As long as we don't start threatening to collect 360's and burn them, or sacrifice journalistic integrity to join a band wagon fandom is a good thing.

Sony walked into 3rd place knowing they would be there because of Blu Ray. The problems really started for them when they realized they would be in 3rd for a while.

It doesn't matter to me, as long as Sony keeps making good games.

No, because the install base of both consoles is big enough to assure 3rd party support for this gen. A console with a userbase bigger than 40 million can't be left out by third party publishers this gen.

The only reason PS3 and Xbox360 fans are in an epic battle is fun. Think about it, both got the 3rd party support, both got great exclusives and both won't be discontinued. Who cares if one console sells 50 million and the other one just 45 million? Nobody cares actually. It is just fun to argue about it.

Umm the ps2 broke A LOT too. It seems Microsoft learned from sony in more ways than one. Sony released the ps2 before it was ready to kill dreamcast.

I couldn't be happier that they are in last place. The Sony that came into this generation was led by men with little vision and overly cocky attitudes. The company did not have the gamers' best interests at heart. This helping of humble pie was exactly what they needed to get back on track. If they had their way and were first, I'm fairly certain we as gamers would not have had our voices heard nearly as much.

Who cares what position they are in even if it is last place is sony being first second or last putting money in my pocket? Nooo then i don't care its the console which i like as long as sony keep giving me games like Killzone 2 MGS4 uncharted LBP resistance 2 then they can be last forever

Really?  You had to make this thread for some reason didn't you.   I haven't been on VGchartz much because of stuff like this. 

Do I care that Sony is "in last place" in a stupid "contest" on which is the better system because of what has sold more?  No.  They are making amazing games that I truly enjoy and love to play.   First or last place is doesn't matter because the games are good and fun.  I have a great Blu Ray player as well in it and the PSN is great and the Store is great as well.

It does everything that I need in a console and I'm very happy to have it.  I couldn't say the same about the 360 I had, and later sold.  Same thing with the Wii that hasn't been powered on in 11 months now but keep in case there's something that hte GF wants to play.  (Her super nintendo gets more of a workout then the wii)

But I digress, it doesn't matter one iota what fanboys who think that sales are the ultimate sign of how good a console is. I have fun with it, and enjoy it so it's number one in my house.

I'll be happy if no console ever dares to launch at $600 ever again.
